Great Little Drive
I got this today and so have not used it for a huge amount of time, but initial impressions are great. I booted up my Mac Pro, plugged it in, and it mounted instantly. I shut down and restarted my computer several times, or woke it from sleep mode, and the device was mounted and worked properly each time (I know some reviewers had said it would’t mount coming out of sleep, etc). This device is VERY small, smaller than I was expecting, and as others have said, is nearly flush to the laptop’s side when plugged in – so not a drive you would want to unplug and remove often. It’s very unobtrusive, and has a huge storage capacity for its physical size. I plan on leaving mine in as a permanent extra storage device. I copied several large folders with files in them to mine, and data transferred quickly and seamlessly. Seems like a great product so far.Update – I liked the 128 GB version so much I bought the 256 GB one to replace it, since the first one was almost full. I had to pry the original one out with my fingernail, which took some effort (which is a good thing – it fits snugly and there is no chance it will fall out on its own). I copied all my files to an external drive and then to the new JetDrive330, and everything works perfectly. I use it mostly for my growing movie library (videos and movies which take up a huge amount of space) and pictures There’s an ingenious Mac app called Tunespan that allows you to store media files in iTunes in different locations and play them from iTunes transparently, so this has worked out perfectly for me, since my MacBook Pro only contains a 256 GB internal drive, and I was effectively able to double that.

It does what it says, quite good solution
Effectively, this is an SD card. On my MacBook Pro M3 Pro 16″ sits perfectly unobtrusive, and it keeps mounted at all times, either after sleep mode or after restarting the computer. It comes with a software called “JetDrive Lite 330”, which only user parameter is a Power Saving feature.At the beginning, I installed it and turned on that power saving switch, but then the card wan’t able to mount or properly function on the operative system. So I disabled it and the problems were gone. Many weeks after, it is working quite well.To note here, when playing a movie directly from the card, let’s say a MKV format file, about three to four time during the movie there is a momentary lag that lasts for some seconds. This doesn’t happen when the file is being read from the computer’s SSD. May need to check what the macOS itself is doing with the SD card in the meantime.Nevertheless, it does what it says, and while slower than the SSD, it provides a lot of relief for storage within the computer.

Si bien la lectura es un poco lenta respecto al disco interno o incluso a algunos SSD USB conectados por Thunderbolt 3, la verdad es que es una maravilla poder añadir 1TB por poco más de 100 euros, ganando espacio adicional para almacenar música, películas o instaladores. Rinde bien, ocupa el puerto evitando que entre polvo y no sobresale ni siquiera un milímetro. Necesitarás unas buenas uñas para sacar esta tarjeta y volver a liberar el puerto, pero es algo que en mi caso no hago nunca, así que todo ventajas. ¡Espero que no falle!

Après 2 mois d’utilisation, je me demande comment j’ai pu me passer de cette carte jusqu’ici. 109 €, le prix de la tranquillité : elle me permet d’avoir des sauvegardes TimeMachine permanentes en cas de défaillance du disque interne. Mon meilleur achat informatique depuis des années.Elle semble deux fois moins rapide en écriture que ma clef USB Samsung FIT plus 256 Go mais c’est amplement suffisant pour faire des sauvegardes TimeMachine en permanence, même quand le Wifi ou le réseau mobile sont saturés. La carte peut être laissée en permanence dans le port SD card (que je n’utilisais jamais) de mon Macbook pro, et elle dépasse si peu du Mac qu’il faut de bons ongles pour l’extraire. Sa consommation électrique semble négligeable. Sur mon Mac fonctionnant sur batterie, et sans application lancée, j’ai regardé pendant une petite heure l’estimation d’autonomie affichée par mon Mac, tout en vérifiant dans le Moniteur d’activité qu’il n’y avait aucune opération qui se lançait (charge processeur autour de 2%) et que j’insère ou que j’éjecte cette carte 1 To ce ne semblait pas avoir d’impact sur l’estimation d’autonomie.Je conseille de désactiver les sauvegardes TimeMachine cachées qui se font sur le disque interne, que cette carte rend inutiles.——-Mise à jour 08/01/2025, un an et demi plus tard, la fiabilité n’est pas au rendez-vous. Au cours des 6 derniers mois j’ai eu 4 fois une erreur d’écriture signalée par macOS qui n’arrivait plus à écrire dessus (erreur non réparable). A chaque fois j’ai pu reformater la carte et refaire une nouvelle sauvegarde TimeMachine de zéro sans difficulté. C’est bien comme sauvegarde d’appoint mais pas comme sauvegarde principale.

One year after and it simple stop to work.It is good to keep files that you want to save space in your disk but than you have a copy in another disk because it is not safe.Take care.
