Elegantly Crafted 8 Port USB Hub..Thumbs UP!
j5create USB C HubGreat fit & feel in the hand. Beautifully crafted out of aluminum with a gently milled edge. This is the perfect companion for a laptop on the go or a desktop. All the commonly used port configurations are included… 8 of them. In addition, this device supports the USB4 E-Marker standard for Hi-Power Delivery (PD). In short, the PD chip allows much higher power transmission (battery Charging). It works by making sure the cables and devices involved can handle the higher transmission of power. It does this by communicating with both devices. If the CHIP determines they are insufficient, it slows down the power rate to the old standard to ensure safer power delivery. The Other nice power feature is power PASS THROUGH. If you need to plug in an AC adapter here because you do not have a spare port on your device, no worries. All the power is available for your attached equipment. The Hub is passive.Across the top of the unit is minimalistic branding. Turn it over, and all the ports are individually labeled. It is a stylish looking hub nicely matching my MacBook. It weighs about 6 ounces I have found it lying flat on the desk most of the time when connected. Some thicker HDMI cables may cause it to curl or lift.In my testing and use with USBC, a memory card, HDMI cables and charging my MAC. This hub performed as advertised. Thumbs UP!

    Works
Gets hot to the touch when downloading from SD card or if left plugged in so we unplug it. But it gets the job done.

    Great multi-purpose USB-C hub / dock
USB-C is positioned as the wonder port. With the right port (make sure you have at least a full function USB-C port that supports USB 3.0/DisplayPort Alt Mode OR higher – Thunderbolt 3 or 4 or USB 4 for this to work) you can do power, video and data all over one single cable. But to do that, you need some sort of adapter or hub to connect to legacy devices that don’t support USB-C natively. If YOU have that need, this is a great hub/dock for such devices! With this single hub, you can connect video out (up to 4K at 60hz over HDMI), data out at 10Gbps over 1 USB-C data port or 2 USB-A ports, 100W of power delivery, gigabit ethernet and readers for MicroSD and SD cards. So with one hub, you can connect all manner of things – everything you need for an entire desk setup and more! And best of all, it just works – you plug it in and off you go. I’ve tried it with Windows, Mac and ChromeOS devices and it just worked with all three. It’s not cheap, but in this case you get what you pay for – if you need to connect your USB-C device to a whole world of devices, this is a great hub to take for a spin!

Very nice product but is missing something
I like this product. It works well and is compatible with all my laptops. It gets pretty warm when operating but then almost all these hubs get very warm. It’s a bit overpriced considering it wasn’t designed with the #1 most common thing used in ethernet connections – no link lights next to the ethernet port! I came close to returning it because of that.

    Screen blinks, then works
I have two of these. The first one I purchased works great. The second one makes the screen flash when I plug in a second monitor, then it works after about 30 seconds.

This USB-C Hub is very versatile.
I got this to transfer video from my GoPros Micro SD card to my computer. It takes forever to transfer video files from the cloud. This device allows me to connect my GoPros micro SD directly to my computer and transfer data at an incredibly fast rate. It’s very well build with a metal outer casing. The cable is high quality and has multiple device and card inputs. The amount of time I save fast transferring data is amazing and well worth the cost of this hub.I also like how there’s not an outside plug needed to power this.

    A need!
I’ve had several of these and this one so far is my favorite. I like how the cord is long so it’s not dangling off the side if you have your laptop on a riser. Really great quality!

Unappealing price and unacceptable amount of coil whine despite full functionality
Unfortunately, this hub has more coil whine (at what seems to be a lower pitch; it’s more of a coil hiss) than any of the other USB-C “dongle-dock” options I’ve tried (UGreen comes to mind; I bought and returned a dock that had an identical feature-set and was half the price for a high-pitched whine from the charging passthrough circuitry that was more bearable than this noise.) My ThinkPad Thunderbolt dock has significantly less electronic noise and my OWC Thunderbolt dock has absolutely no audible coil whine. This seems to be a run-of-the-mill USB-C hub with more care put into the design of the box than the design of the power delivery hardware. The product itself is covered in the brand-name and marketing buzzwords (the permanently affixed male USB-C connector, which I feel is unacceptable at more than $50, is adorned with “USB4,” which this is not (the hub expands a single USB-C 3.2 10 gbps PD, DP, Data port, and is not a Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, or USB 4 hub), and the top of the unit itself has “10G” and “4K60” boldly marked – I’m assuming you know what the product is if you’ve bought it.) It’s a shame – it would look quite discrete without the branding. The unit works with a 4K 60hz monitor, a 1920×1200 60hz monitor, and a 1920×1080 144hz monitor plugged directly into the HDMI port. It does not work with any monitor plugged into the downstream 10gbps port via a DisplayPort to USB-C cable. Ethernet works, but I did not test bandwidth. With an external SSD running benchmarks, a set of peripherals, and a 4K display plugged into it, the dock does not seem to suffer any bandwidth limitations (tested under Linux, running kernel version 5.18, on a Thinkpad E14 Gen 2 with a Ryzen 4500u. This laptop has a full 10gbps USB-C PD&Data&DP port.) The dock’s chassis is nice, with an aluminum body and rubberized end caps, but still doesn’t stand out. Most USB-C hubs with a similar feature set use a similar metal case for heat dissipation. At $100 I would not recommend this product. It offers no notable features to set it apart from other options that are available at half the cost, and the coil whine is an unacceptable defect on a unit that comes in at a price this steep.
