It does what’s advertised for a good price, but make sure the power draw is correct
I needed a docking station set up for my 2018 MacBook Pro, and a lot of the options out there were well over $100 just for the station itself. This one seemed like it would be decent quality, and the price was quite good too, so I went for it. It’s completely made of aluminum, so it does get quite warm when in use, but that’s to be expected for something that puts 100W through itself. When it’s standing up, it almost looks like a mini Mac Pro, which is quite neat. The heat has to go somewhere. I have it connected to two HDMI high refresh rate monitors @ 144Hz, and it performs flawlessly in that respect. No issues whatsoever when connected up.The double USB-C cable it comes with is quite short, about 2.5-3 feet long, which would be sufficient for most people’s desk setups. I wanted to place my MacBook underneath my desk to free up space on the desk, so I decided to get two Thunderbolt 3 cables and connect them up just like the cable that came in the box, and it works just as well. The only downside to doing this is that I have to plug two cables in now instead of 1, but it’s well worth it for the freed desk space.One thing of note is that while on the product page it specifies that it takes 100W max input, you need to make sure that the power adapter and cable you use also can keep up with this. Under heavy loads, like rendering video, I noticed that my battery percentage was dropping by a significant amount, and that the battery wasn’t being charged. I checked the output from the USB-C power adapter I was using (rated 100W) and found that it was only drawing about 65W at peak load using a USB-C power tester, which would explain why the battery percentage was dropping under load. I was using an original Apple USB-C cable, so I swapped it for another cable that specifically was rated for 100W, and now it draws about 90W under load, which is more in line with what I expected. If you buy this dock and notice your battery level dropping while under load, check the power adapter and the cable to make sure that it’s pulling close to 100W, otherwise your laptop will lose charge with this.All of the ports work flawlessly, though be aware that the MicroSD card slot does stick out a significant amount when plugged in, so try not to force it in, lest you break your SD card. My setup consists of two high-refresh rate monitors, a USB DAC/Amp combo going to external speakers, keyboard, mouse, and an external hard drive all plugged in at once, and it takes it all with ports to spare.This is a very excellent dock for my needs, and if you have a 2016-2018 Intel MacBook Pro and need a docking setup for it, this is a good option to look into.

I almost returned it!
I almost returned it because the screen kept going blank(loss of signal from dock) and my mouse would stop working (usb-a ports would stop working).Seeing that this is the second dock I tried and I was annoyed because my $30 hub was working better than both. I printed out the sheet to return this unit. Then my monitor went blank while connected to my cheap hub. Which has not happened since the day I bought it 5yrs ago.Turns out the brand new 100w. PD power unit and usb-c cable were causing the issue. When I was powering the Dock with them my screen went blank at least 10 times in the first 6hours of use. During those times I lost mouse connection at least twice. The new usb-c cable was used in the MacBook Pro charger and there was still a loss of usb-a ports. Additionally I tired the apple usb-c cord in the 100w PD charger. Same thing happened.Solution: I am using the MacBook pro charger(87w) and usb-c cable that are from Apple. There has been no blank screen or loss of mouse.Hopefully this helps those who are experiencing similar issues with this dock.Lastly, no drivers are required to use it!

Initially, I was captivated by its sleek and attractive design, a key factor in my decision to purchase. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration.After receiving the product, due to various constraints, it took me a few days to set it up. Imagine my dismay when I discovered it wouldn’t power up. The culprit? A defective power button – loose and unresponsive (as you can see in the attached photo). This was not just a minor inconvenience; it rendered the entire device, which was quite pricey, completely unusable.Adding to my disappointment was the lack of response from the company. Despite reaching out for assistance, my calls for help went unanswered. There was no guidance, no support – nothing. It’s disheartening to invest in a product, only to be met with silence when you need help the most.I’m sharing this experience to caution potential buyers. This product, despite its appealing exterior, has significant quality issues. More so, the customer service – or the lack thereof – is a major letdown. I regret not opting for a more reliable brand known for quality and customer care.I hope this review serves as a wake-up call to the company. We, as customers, deserve better – better quality products and responsive, caring customer support. Please, take this feedback seriously and address these issues for future customers.

Easy Multiscreen Setup

Most of it is good, but one major limitation re: MacBook Pro, M3 Pro chip
First, the limitation:I just picked up my MacBook Pro, M3 Pro chip, and the device will NOT power 2 monitors.It does, however, power 1 of the 2 panels that I have. Which is equal to just plugging the HDMI directly into the MacBook. Unfortunately, this renders the device unusable to me.The good:The construction feels solid, it has decent weight/heft to it, and looks quite acceptable as well.The so-so:The supplied cable is taking up 2 USB-C ports, and it is far too short. Also, the USB cable draws power from the Mac, rather than having its own power supply.

I was excited to use this docking station but as I was unboxing the package, there was no user manual included. However, it was straight forward simply like a plug and play. After successfully connecting it to my MacBook Pro and my 2nd monitor, none of the USB ports work. Couldn’t connect my keyboard and USB drive (I’ve tried them all). I could’ve just bought a cable to connect my laptop to monitor for 1/10th of the price if I didn’t need the other features of a docking station. I wanted it to work but not what I expected for the price.
