Pros:—I received the unit in a very timely manner. It was heavily insulated in plastic bags filled with spray-foam insulation, which insured that the CPU would not be damaged in transit.—Better graphics card than the one advertised.—included WiFi/Bluetooth adapter that works just fine—Seller responded quickly (within 12 hours) of my inquiriesCons:—I was surprised to find the tower VERY used. It is chipped, dented, and scratched in multiple places. I believed the manufacturer’s label on the top was removed just prior to shipping–there is a large patch of sticky adhesive where the label must have been. I have never owned electronic equipment in this condition, even after having owned it for a number of years. However, I purchased the computer because I need a workhorse with a good amount of speed and memory, so the appearance was off-putting but not a deal breaker. It’s what’s on the inside that counts, right?—This unit was advertised as having HDMI input, but mine came with one usable display port adjacent to a DVI-D port. Since I only had HDMI cables lying around and ordered a monitor with HDMI input only, I had to order another cable to get this to work with my monitor. Again, off-putting but not a deal breaker. I am looking into DVI hubs to add monitors when the need arises.Would I order this particular unit again knowing what I know now? Given the price, speed of order processing and transit, along with the fact that I knew the tower would be hidden under my giant desk, sure. Everything is in working order but I would be embarrassed to show anyone the condition of the tower. I’ve considered cleaning it up and letting my daughters turn it into an art project. We shall see.I’d recommend buying the unit if you’re not a Shallow Hal and don’t mind a few surprises in life.;)

The DELL Precision T1700 does not have a standard 24-pin power connector (PSU to MB)
I have purchased about two dozen Dell refurbished workstations. Only one workstation was DOA, so that’s about 95% success.Most of these refurbs were converted into “entry level” gaming rigs. This is the cheapest way to build a basic gaming PC – just add a better graphics card and a matching power supply.Why Dell? Because their hardware is good, but mostly because the Dell support web site is excellent.DO THE RESEARCH – If you are looking for a refurbished workstation to upgrade into a gaming PC then you need to check out the Dell support site to make sure the workstation has a PCI 8X expansion slot and a standard ATX power supply (with a 20 or 24-pin connector).WARNING – The motherboard in the T1700 mini tower DOES NOT HAVE A STANDARD ATX PSU. The T1700 motherboard does not have a 20 or 24-pin connector. I don’t think I can retrofit a standard ATX power supply in this workstation.I am sad to see a Dell workstation with a non-standard hardware configuration. Other companies tried something similar, and they no longer exist…

Came with a bad GPU!
So upon arrival I hooked it up to dual monitors however the graphics card in it was not capable of handling dual monitors so I went to Best Buy and upgraded the GPU and it works fine now I sent an email to sky tech and tried to call them more than three times but never got ahold of anyone. After replacing the GPU and hard wiring it to my cable router the speeds were amazing and the new GPU read the two monitors and I extended the display with no issues. It’s a blazing fast machine with upload speeds of over 500 Mbps and downloads speeds of over 40 Mbps which is faster than my i5 surface pro. So after spending the initial 450 for this and an additional 130 for a GPU nividia 1030 I’m pretty pleased with the set up on two 32 inch curved monitors. Also found out that the motherboard and power supply will need to be upgraded in this work station in order to put a better GPU in it so wish me luck on that!! Dells front plates make it difficult to upgrade motherboards or so I have seen in many of the upgrade sites? So that may be a challenge later down the road. This machine has plenty of storage space and it did come with four 4GBs of ram just like they said that too will be upgraded to 64 eventually!

Delivered what was promised
In life one must be cautious to receive promises made. This has never been more true than when purchasing renovated or used gear over the Internet, even when backed by Amazon’s assurances. Therefore, I’m pleased to say that I have been completely satisfied with Aventis System’s reworked Dell system recently bought. Setup, startup and updating of the computer was a snap, and it has performed better than expected. I was a bit concerned when unwrapping because Aventis apparently believes in minimalist packaging, but aside from some mild wear and tear, everything worked out of the box. I would, and probably will buy from Aventis again. One immaterial curiosity: Aventis calls this a 2018 model, but bits and pieces of the machine think 2015 is more realistic.
