Great advice for young players and Baseball fans of all ages!
“A Little Slugger’s Guide to the Unwritten Rules of Baseball and Life” by Patrick Renna is an engaging read that resonates with both young readers and adults. While it’s slightly longer than a typical bedtime story, the content is compelling enough to make it worthwhile. The book is rich with baseball references and nods to “The Sandlot,” offering a nostalgic touch for fans. Beyond the sports anecdotes, it imparts valuable life lessons, encouraging young readers to “keep swinging” and “find a glove that fits,” promoting perseverance and self-discovery. My 8-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed it, finding both the baseball stories and life advice inspiring. Overall, it’s a heartwarming guide that seamlessly blends sports wisdom with practical guidance for life’s challenges.ξ

Loved it!
The sandlot was my favorite growing up, so I was so excited for this book. I read it to my son’s 4th-grade class, today for read across america. While I’m not sure of the attention span of your child, I place this more for 3-5th graders. They really enjoyed it, especially the sports fans, but they were getting antsy at the end. Maybe if you broke up the book for littler guys/gals and read a few pages a night. Very inspiring for young minds. Great read!
