Very good outdoor speakers. Should easily satisfy most when paired with good amplification.
Very good speakers for the price. My application of these speakers was in my garage where I paired them with a Fosi V3 amplifier. Great clear sound and respectable base. They can play loud without distorting. They appear to be well made and are easy to setup. Very good overall performance with a good return for your dollar. Recommended.2-8-25Still think I made a good decision to buy this speaker. I do recommend that you buy the 48 volt power supply. It will give you the best performance in terms of power, loudness, clarity. I paired these with a Fosi V3 amplifier. A good inexpensive way to outfit your outdoor sound system.

Amazing Speakers!
Solid sound! Polk has created an amazing speaker with their Atrium 8. The sound is amazing and full spectrum. High highs and decent lows. I did add the Polk bass to my setup for that extra “thump,” but the Atrium 8’s are dang near perfect without the added bass.I have these mounted outside around my pool and have 20 people over any given time on summer weekends. Everyone talks about how amazing they sound. Couldn’t agree more. Paired them up with a Sony STRDH590 for a powerful driving sound! Solid speakers with a solid sound at a solid price.

Nice size and sound quality for outdoor patio space
I purchased these as replacements for outdoor speakers that were installed on a new-to-us house, but that were no longer working. I bought the white version, and they compliment our home’s exterior trim color nicely. Installation was a breeze — each speaker is bolted to the house with two wood bolts, then attach the wire, and that’s all there is to it.In my case, I am using a dedicated “left” and “right” speaker setup, so I cannot address how well these work when they are wired with both left and right speaker wires. I can say that you need to slide the switch/contact cover over on the back of the speaker if you are wiring them as “left” or “right” like you would for normal speakers, or else the sound is quite a bit softer. This makes more sense when you look at the unit itself–but there are two ways to wire each speaker, so follow the directions for your application and you’ll be fine.As you’d expect, there is not a ton of bass to these speakers, however when connected to a home-owner quality sound system (Sony), they sound quite good as an external speaker, and better than ones that we had at our previous house.I’m hopeful that I can get at least 5 solid years out of these speakers in order to justify the price. We’ll see how that works out, but I think Polk quality is quite good for my purposes, and I have confidence that it has been money well spent.

Tips
I had a wiring problem which was no fault of Polk’s.Amazon was amazing with the return processbut the speakers were delivered in 2 separate boxes but had to be returned in one.An extra trip to UPS was the result.I kept the second pair after correcting the wire short.Sound is heavy on the bass end.Mid range is decent and the most you can expect from an outdoor speaker, highs are great. The speaker operates at 8 ohms if using the one speaker stereo optionTwo speakers operate at 4 ohms if using the 2 speaker option, so…Make sure you have an amp that can supply enough power to two speakers (at 4 amps).Otherwise the your receiver/amp will either clip the high volume passages or particular frequencieswhen the demand for more power is called for by your played recording.(FYI ohms/resistance is not static when music is played)Worse yet, the integrated amp may temporarily shut down altogether for over heat protection. The better listening solution- get a receiver/amp or a dedicated amp that can handle the power requirementsthese speakers ask for, especially if you like your music LOUD.

Decent Sound for the $$$
I got these as well as a pair of Atrium 5s to compare. I set both pair up with my indoor McIntosh Pre and Amp and auditioned them for a few hours. The bass on the 5s had a sort of artificial sound lacking definition. The 6s sounded really solid and reasonably flat with the Tone controls bypassed on the pre-amp. I liked the compact size of the 5s and they would have been easier to mount under the eaves on my deck to replace some worn out Mirage speakers I had that sounded great. But I was worried about the bass. The 6s are much heavier and larger and more expensive. But I think they are worth it. Once I got them installed and played a set of tunes I use for setting up speakers (Fagen / The Night Fly, etc), the reinforced bass, with them now much closer to the wall than they were inside, was a lot. Now connected to a nice Marantz Pre and Amp, I may need to cut the bass and treble 2-3db to get a flatter response. The A6 can cover a large area and deliver plenty of bass. I don’t like over the top bass and prefer a flatter audiophile EQ, and these do that easily. I think the A5s may have worked, but the character of the bass sounded odd, so I never mounted them outside to try. Even reinforced by the wall, I don’t think I would have liked them as much.Beyond that, they were fairly easy to mount – the brackets have notched detents, so they don’t spin freely, which is nice – my old Mirages used to sag after a while.Overall, the sound seems mid-range weak, bright, and a little bassy. My old Mirage speakers sounded better, but they are no longer made. That said, I think I can dial them in pretty well with the treble and bass controls on the pre-amp.

I upgraded from Atrium 4 to Atrium 6. HUGE difference. The 4s were very good, nice clean sound, some bass – did very well through -40 to +42, and all types of humidity. Speakers were exposed to all temperatures and ambient humidity, but shielded from all precipitation. I was hesitant to buy anything more expensive, for consideration of material and build quality, but after 3 years, decided to upgrade. The 6s — amazing! Full top end and excellent bass. Physical size is a little bigger, almost didn’t fit where the 4s were, but managed to, just. Worth the money, if you can afford. If you can’t afford these, get the 4s – they’re still very good. Neither version will disappoint.

These are the best outdoor speakers I came across. Real good quality build and sound. They will last a LONG time. The Atrium 6 have better bass.

If you are looking for a great sounding outdoor speaker look no further. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an indoor or outdoor wall or corner speaker. This Atrium 8 SDI has a patented single/dual input switch that lets the speaker be configured as either a single, high performance loudspeaker, or as a right and left when used as a pair. They sound great hooked up both ways. The only flaw I found was when screwing the wires in the back, it’s a little tight and you may need some needle nose pliers to get them nice and tight, a small inconvenience. You get more base when mounted in a corner but they sound great on the wall as well. $250 on sale Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays in 2023

I typically would have bought two separate speakers for stereo sound, but purchased this instead for ease of installation. Sound is great… bass response is great… stereo dispersion is great. For the price, and for where I have installed this outside, exceeded expectations.
