Very good value for low price.
I bought this as low-priced receiver to drive quality bookshelf drive speakers in my patio with large TV. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money as it is installed in open air patio (covered). Not sure how long it would last in high humidity. After install, I was impressed with sound quality and user interface. I also appreciated easy audio filter adjustment to make voices clearer while watching movies. It works so well, that I bought a second one for my family room. It is not a super high-end system for sophisticated audiophiles. But it works very well for me. Very happy with it so far.

    Very nice for the price!
“value for money”, “sheerness” and “thickness”… There, mentioned. OK, now that’s out of the way, let’s review!First off, out of the box it has a nice sleek look to it that most Onkyo receivers have, but some of the buttons look like a cheaper style set up on the right side of the receiver that will definitely catch the eye of older Onkyo component consumers that just don’t look right, but function properly and as described, just look cheaper and different than we’re used to.Sound quality, I’m using KLM satellite surrounds, 2 Bose 3n1s for my 2 front RnL, and another KLM for center, and a Polk audio 10” sub 100w with this and it sounds very full and clear. The remote is very nice. It adds useful buttons like the tone control buttons. You are gonna love the vocal button for that low volume dialog(depending on what settings you use, it’s not available in all listening formats). Other than that, it’s a fairly easy to use remote. If you are using a newer TCL Roku TV, this unit connects to it so well. Volume controls and everything when using eARC and CeC. Just love the simplicity.Anyway, if you’re looking for a great 5.2 Receiver for a sweet deal of a price and a cool name, look no further.P. S. I’ve had home theater set ups in my homes since I was a child, and I’m 43 now. Just trying to let folks know, I have had my share of receivers. From my pop to me, and to my son, we love good quality home entertainment.

    Great Product for the money!
I had a much more expensive system, it was about 10 years old and started to crackle… I looked for something to replace it, I didn’t need a system to blow me out of the house, just something to watch movies with really good surround. I do have nice speakers and the surround is very nice, its voices come out nicely. I’ve listened to other systems where it’s hard to hear the voices. This system works great. I also enjoy music from my phone with the Bluetooth connection. great system for the money

    Onkyo Basic Receiver
At this price point I didn’t expect much. I used this to replace a much pricier Denon receiver that I used for a much more complicated system at our previous house. Now I just need a 5:1 surround after the Denon quit. The receiver is basic and easy to setup. The sound is good and drives our ceiling speakers just fine. You do have to turn the volume up quite a bit to get that wall shaking effect during movies but I don’t care as long as it works. If it lasts 5 years, I will be happy.

    Denon Disappointed, Onkyo Did Not!
I have a great speaker from Denon and ended up checking on their website which had a few specials – one on a refurbished receiver. I thought, well, I like their speaker and the receiver is a good price…so I ordered it. When I received it, it worked for a little less than THREE HOURS before is simply refused to turn on. Returned it and started looking for a receiver that was similarly placed and this Onkyo was my choice. I got it set up in no time and after setting up the surround sound speakers to work with it, I turned on the TV and it has been working like a champ since. Sounds great, easy to set up and is exactly what I wanted. I may not be able to afford a hugely expensive home theater system, but for my price point, this receiver is an excellent choice. I paired it with a Klipsch surround sound set of speakers. Together they make it a pleasure to watch a movie, especially a musical!

    ONLY LASTED SIX MONTHS!
This is my second Onkyo Receiver. I had one that lasted almost 20 years! This one is perfect for the bedroom or a small room. It is extremely easy to set up and it works perfectly. One note: if you want the just sound from the TV without the TV on, make sure CEC Is turned off in the receiver in settings/hardware/HDMI.UPDATE: After six months, the unit turned itself off! When I turned it back on, I got the error message “NG: LCRSLSR”. It will not let me set the connection mode or work at all. After displaying this error message, it turns itself off. I have contacted Onyko support and hope to hear back from them with a solution. My search of this error message did not result in any solution, including on the UK website Support.A BRAND NEW RECEIVER SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN SIX MONTHS!

    Great sound for a jazzhead!
Like: adjustments made on tv screen, drivesa pair of Pioneer HPM-100’s up front and 3 small Pyle speakers + a Sony powered sub woofer just fine! Be sure to use 4K wide band HDMI cables in your installation.Dislike: Small Connectors for rear speaker hookups. Could use brighter display characters.All-in All a fine A/V receiver at a great price !

I really like this brand. my previous amp was the same brand and was also great. But it lacked HDMI inputs and was about 11 years old. This new unit is much smaller lighter and fits much better in my TV stand. The sound quality is second to none. although i find it is not as powerful as my old amp it provides enough power that your not disappointed. Set up was easy and with the mic plugged in you really get the very best optimized sound you can possibly get. just make sure when you do the set up to follow the instructions. place the mic in the middle of your room at ear level. make sure the mic won’t move while its doing the setup. even the smallest movement of the mic will distort the readings and mess it all up. also make sure the room is dead silent. this mic is very very sensitive. and any outside sound will get factored into the calibration of your system. resulting in a poor experance.
