Absolutely Phenomenal Hat In Every Way
I absolutely love this GearTop hat. I purchased it because my doctor told me to wear sunscreen protection and specifically to wear a wide brimmed hat. I have tons of regular trucker style/baseball style hats, but needed a wide brim. This hat looks great. The color is perfect – not too light so it won’t get dirty and not too dark so it won’t absorb heat. The fit of the hat is also perfect for my large sized head (just as the fitment chart said). It is very lightweight so you’ll barely notice it on your head – no real extra weight whatsoever. The drawstring serves as both an adjustment for sizing as well as a way to lock the drawstring under your chin to keep it even more in place for those really windy days. So far I haven’t needed to lock in place as the hat fits so well. The thing that really sold me on this hat is the ventilation system. I hate hats that make your hotter and don’t ventilate well. This has ventilates amazingly because the circumference area on the upper part of the hat has a mesh that allows for airflow in and heat out. Everyone also thinks that I look pretty good in this hat as I get many compliments so far. The UVF of 50+ in the fabric is also perfect as many of the sun’s rays can get through most clothing. I truly cannot think of a better quality made hat that stays attractive. This hat ticks all the boxes for the perfect hat. Absolutely an emphatic recommend for anyone looking for a great sun hat, hiking hat, gardening hat, etc.

good quality, but be mindful of the size
This hat is attractive and seems well-made. The brim is wide enough to provide good sun protection. It also wards off rain pretty well, though I can feel some drops coming through the mesh. But people with larger heads should be cautious: I comfortably wear a 59 cm (23 1/4″) hat, and this one is slightly snug. (Not a bad thing, as a gust of wind deposited my last hat of this sort in the St. Lawrence river). Those with larger hat sizes should probably choose a different model.

Cool Hat
It came quickly and very-well-packaged in a nice, big box, not folded-up so there was only one crease to iron out, which was relatively easy with low heat. I then went out on the trail with it. I gotta say, the vent came in handy when it came to keeping my head cool. The wicking band did its job. The brim really saved my eyes and face from the sun. That’s my favorite part. I have very fair, burn-prone skin and live in a hot, humid subtropical climate. This hat alleviates some of the discomfort from the sun’s relentless radiation. It’s easy to wash. When I got home, I threw it in on cold delicate and hung it by the string to dry. It cleans up real nicely. For such a simple, inexpensive purchase, I am very grateful. Maybe that’s because it’s so useful. It looks good, too. If you need sun protection that’s comfortable and cool, you can’t go wrong with at least trying this hat. It’s not a huge investment so if you don’t like it, it won’t feel like a massive waste of money if you don’t like it. But I think you’ll like it, especially for the cost. Give it a try.

Like the hat but not Amazon’s practices
I love the hat which boasts a lifetime warranty. However, when I had an issue, as in the chin strap came undone from the hat band on one side, I discovered Amazon sold the hat “directly from Amazon Retail”. The manufacturer says this means the order number is not in their system.This is the second time I’ve ordered a product from Amazon, only to discover the product warranty is not honored by the manufacturer. Frankly, this seems like a dishonest trade practice. I should not have to investigate the supply chain procedure before I buy something from the retailer.I am going to think twice before purchasing from Amazon again.Update: the manufacturer honored their warranty in spite of the issue with Amazon. They are sending me a new one! I love the hat; it’s lightweight, has a hidden zippered compartment in the crown, is adjustable and offers plenty of sun protection.

Love this hat
This hat might be described as a fishing hat, but I don’t go fishing. I do go out in the rain though, which is why I bought the hat. This rain hat fits well (I apparently have a big head which causes some hats to not properly hug my head) and the brim is nice and wide, which is important (it keeps the rain water from being dumped down the inside of my collar — the wide brim insures that the rain goes down the back of my rain coat and that I stay dry). The under chin tie helps on those windy rainy days insuring that the hat stays on. I would imagine that when spring and summer come, the hat will be equally useful for keep the sun off my face. For these reasons, I have no problems recommending this hat.
