Great Deal as a Zoneminder Server
I recently purchased a used, reconditioned Dell Optiplex 9020 Small Form Factor Desktop with Intel Core i7-4770 from Amazon. The reconditioning took place in a plant in Canada. I am very pleased with the performance of this computer and the ease of setup. I chose this system from Amazon after comparing it with other refurbishers because of Prime shipping.I had been running Zoneminder on a Raspberry Pi 4 to process the video from 4 cameras and store the footage on a 6 TB external Hard drive. That system struggled and I finally decided to upgrade. The newest Raspberry Pi seemed expensive, so I decided to look at used Intel boxes. I found this system on Amazon for less than the cost of a Pi and with a free keyboard and mouse. Seemed a great bargain. When the system arrived, it had Windows 10 Pro installed. I did not want to destroy that. I was able to shrink the partition on the 1 TB hard drive and install Debian as a dual boot operating system. The process was made easier by the fact that the drive came formatted using the GUID partition table (GPT). I installed Grub to manage the boot process, which was a breeze after I figured out that I needed to change the BIOS boot process from Legacy mode. I was able to connect the same external hard drive that I had used with the Pi to one of the USB 3 ports and it mounted without fuss under Debian. The system comes with both HDMI and Display Port video but sans cables. I had a spare Display Port on my monitor, so I bought a cable (one-day delivery) from Amazon, and I was up and running. After initial configuration I mostly log into the system with Putty, so I hardly use the monitor. But I did want sound capability. I purchased a cheap USB speaker, and it works great. My total investment was still less than the Pi and it runs circles around it.Rather than use the USB mouse that came with my purchase, I used the built-in Bluetooth to connect my Logitech MX master. Once again, no problems whatsoever, one less cable to mess with. I am using both the WiFi card, built-in and the 1GB ethernet port. The drivers for Debian installed by default for both. I didn’t have to hunt for anything, plug-and-play!I love the size of this thing. You can see it in my picture beside my full-size desktop system. The external Hard Drive (purchased separately) is sitting on top of it.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable computer that is easy to install Debian Unix on.

I bought 3 at once. No issues at all.
Listen, it’s a computer. Stuff happens. I bought 3 of these, and one new dell as a server that cost more than the 3 of these combined. Guess which unit didn’t POST and I had to replace? The new dell. So far all 3 booted up and are running just fine. I opened one up and used the second hdd port to clone a hard drive, no issues at all. Windows 10 pro is licensed and fine. The only issue I had is the display port to HDMI adapter didn’t work. I bought these because all of my monitors have VGA and am using those. I wouldn’t use the adapter. Computers break, parts fail, etc. it’s the name of the game. I use mine with the Ethernet cable. The WiFi adapter is a dongle, 2,4g only and slow so just know if you want fast wifi buy a wifi card and install it or run a cable to the machine. For $230 it’s hard to beat. The ssd isn’t name brand but it works and speeds the machine up. I replaced one with a 1tb cloned WD blue to test the machine and it did run slower. The likelihood of a component breaking is random. I have a 10 computer network in my office that is on 24/7/365. This is joining those so we will see. These are old, but newer than most of my machines. They are old commercial machines, optiplex. I see from some bad reviews that it’s luck of the draw. Guess I got lucky 3x.

Happy with the Desktop, so far — can’t say much about the rest…
Well, i bought this for the Desktop itself — I didn’t have any issues with setting this up, pretty much good experience right out of the box in terms of it working, setting up Windows — but, right off the bat, the mouse that was included didn’t work well at all, so much so that going thru the install would’ve been very difficult. Luckily, I still have an existing mouse, so I’m using that. After having this computer for a little over a week, I can tell the keyboard that came with it is poor quality — already issues with sticking keys, keys not registering, very poor feel to it — so, i’ll be switching that out soon.Again, I bought it for the computer itself, which came ready to go, clean, no aesthetic issues, and a week in, works like a charm. It was worth the money for that, but if i could’ve choosen w/o the mouse & keys, for less $$$, given what I know now, I would’ve. Now i just got more electronic garbage to do away with.

Nice little set up for the most part.
Well out of the box there were 2 screws flying around inside of the computer…. I’m not sure what they’re for or if they even belong in there so I just set them on the desk doesn’t seem to be affecting anything lol there is also a little chip in the cover and one of the USB ports is just little wires and pieces of metal.. so that’s pretty lame. The wireless adapter they send with these computers are trash. This is the second refurbished computer I have bought where the wireless just doesnt work. I have tried all the troubleshooting you can think of for it and this thing just doesn’t work so I’ll have to spend some money on one that does. The monitor also has a little dead pixel, which isn’t that big of a deal I guess you can barely notice it. All around I won’t know if this computer does what I need it to do until I can get internet on it but the keyboard and mouse work. The ability to adjust the brightness of all these lights is pretty great. The soundbar is pretty nice it has Bluetooth or a cord to connect it with and you can unhook it and use it wireless in your yard if you wanted to lol. I haven’t bothered with the Webcam yet. I think I got my $268 and change worth of items considering just the desktops themselves without a monitor are so expensive. So if you don’t mind a little cosmetic and functionality issues this is a pretty good deal.

Capable and quiet CPU for your home office
I needed to replace my last computer that had a dying drive and this seemed the best choice for my needs. This is the second purchase from Amazon for a refurbished computer that has worked flawlessly. Not the newest, flashiest but it is more than capable for my daily needs as well as music creation and recording.

Me llegó en un muy buen estado, excelente. No he tenido ningún problema. Es bastante rápida que es lo que más me importaba. Manejo diariamente hasta 4 programas que jalan muchos datos y la computadora los maneja sin problema. Me gustó mucho.
