    Simple design, effective, good connection.
Though not as robust as the older style of drawer-in-mount type of removable drive, it works, is reliable, is inexpensive, and actually is easier to use than the older style. Note, this is not a lockable bay for security, but the latch is secure and connections are good. When you open the latch, a well-designed linkage pushes the drive forward off the SATA /Power connectors and out of the enclosure. Reversing the sequence does what you’d expect. I believe my 3.5″ hard drives are running cooler due to the way air can readily flow around them. Comes with all the screws needed.

    Sturdy, reliable drive tray.
I’ve bought several of these. They’re easy to install and they work well with older machines and several different brands of hard drive. The drive connectors are secure and reliable. I haven’t had a bit of trouble with them.

    Works well
Needed a removable drive for backups and had an extra bay on my case, this was so much easier than conecting a external drive.

    Gets The Job Done
I was in need of a 5.25 trayless mobile rack for 3.5 inch hard drives as door for the one I had broke.I saw this trayless rack and decided to get it. Upon receiving, I think the one I got was from a return. The box was wrapped in plastic labeled ready for sale. Also, the box was closed and secured by Scotch tape.Included in the box was the trayless rack and nothing else. There weren’t any instructions nor any hardware such as screws or cables. Looking over the rack, one thing I noticed is it is mostly made of metal (a good thing). The side rails, and the part that ejects the HDDs from the back are made of metal. The front door is made of plastic and I’m hoping this is durable to last. There’s also a metal wire-type guide that keeps the HDD from shifting when inserting and removing. When I first tried, the metal wire thing got caught on the hard drive. I ended up flexing the metal wire a few times and that made a HDD able to swap in and out of the tray. I also noticed that the SATA connections seemed a bit loose. I don’t they the connections will fall out on their own, but feels like the couldn’t been made to connect tighter. Here is what I like and dislike of this trayless mobile rack:Likes:- mostly made of metal- satisfying click sound when door is closedDislikes:- only arrived with tray. Not accessories or instructions- connection could be tighter- may have received a used product instead of new- no lock on door (non-issue for me, may be issue for some)- no LED light indicating drive accessI hope that the trayless rack lasts a long time.I give the Seaocloud 5.25 Trayless Mobile Rack 4.5 stars.

    These Did Not Function Properly-DOA
I ordered two of these at the same time. Both of them failed to function using sata3 with sata3 drives, sata2 with sata2 drives, or any combination of them. I used both Seagate and Western Digital drives (500gb and 1tb respectively, 6 different drives in total were tested on 2 different computers). The bios would recognize the drives, but booting, formatting, or any functionality at all would cause errors and simply not work.It was an easy fix, but not at all appropriate or desirable. I simply removed the SATA connectors on each caddy and plugged the drives in directly to the SATA cables. All was well after that (proving it wasn’t the drives or OS or anything I was doing). The caddy itself is fairly simple and I would even say it’s made well, but the SATA connectors were 100% broken on both of the one’s I ordered, which makes the whole movable tray useless.I am still using them because I really just needed the tray and not the movable functionality, and I also didn’t want to go through the hassle of returning them and ordering something else. However, I would certainly never buy from this company again. If only 1 was bad and the other worked, I would understand, stuff happens. But, both being DOA quite obviously means there is little to no quality control happening here. Maybe it was just a bad day at the factory, I don’t know, but you lost 1 customer.

    Works Perfectly
I bought two, primarily because I was out of space for more hard drives in a computer I use for CCTV. These allowed me to add two more drives to my case by utilizing the two 5 1/4 inch slots that no one needs anymore. The fact that these allow me to swap out drives, and they don’t require a tray, is just a bonus.

Nice fit. Would be better if the sata cable latched.

Documentation is sparse. As for hot swappable I installed the unit with my drive in it. Turned on my computer and it worked no problem. I pulled out the drive and when I put in a different drive my computer hung with a frozen screen and not mouse or keyboard response. Rebooted and the drive worked fine. I don’t really need to hot swap, waiting half a minute to reboot is no deal breaker for me.

I have a LOT of extra hard drives and this bay has proven invaluable. Not super sure about durability but very happy with how well it has worked so far.
