    Best chip I’ve ever had.
My wife uses our PC for editing photos and video using Adobe, and I do some casual gaming as well, and our trusty old 3600 was showing it’s age with the plethora of AI features in Adobe, and some modern gaming titles. So after some research (and talking myself out of an x3D chip) I settled on the 9900 as an upgrade.I could not be happier: excellent temps under load, not overly power hungry, and the performance is a gigantic step up. 131 points in Cinebench 24 single-core, and 1789 points in multi-core.It’s a great chip, and it’s been extremely stable and runs cool under normal workload.

    Excellent productivity gaming CPU!
This is an excellent productivity and gaming CPU, exactly what I was looking for and at its current sale price ($378) it was a no brainer! It’s efficient the temps are great using a AIO and don’t be fooled it’s gaming performance is excellent. I highly recommend this chip.

    Cool CPU
Great CPU, doesn’t run too hot and handles everything I throw at it. I mostly use it for programming, but I also game and use CAD.

Good processor but runs warm at idle
Just finished my first AMD build. It presented no problems (I’ve probably built 30 or more desktops). But the CPU idles at about 50 Celsius. I changed the case to move to a 360 AIO, but that didn’t help. I repasted the CPU, but still no luck. So I moved to the highly-rated Artic Liquid Freezer III, and the idle temps have not dropped at all. My Intel i9-13900k (replaced by Intel because I got one of the bad ones) idles about 10c cooler. On minimal testing, it seems ok under stress. But the idle temp is so high I’m worried

Nice performance bump comparing to 5900x
Runs cooler and faster, what’s not to like. No stability issues with tweaked CO.

I had an Intel core i7 14700kf but 14th gen intel is very unstable and crashes with everything so I switched to AMD it runs all games and programs well and it’s good for streaming but I do wish it had more cores for a Ryzen 9 when the Intel Core i5-14600K which is basically the lowest end cpu intel has from that gen (no one would buy an i3) has more cores but it’s easy to cool if you have an AIO and it’s powerful.

Cores and Threads: The 12-core, 24-thread design delivers high parallel processing power, making it ideal for multitasking and creative workflows.Clock Speeds: Base clock starts at 4.4 GHz and boosts up to 5.6 GHz, ensuring quick responsiveness in demanding applications.Memory Support: Compatible with DDR5 memory, supporting speeds up to 5600 MT/s, which is great for high-performance computing needs.Power Efficiency: Its default 120W TDP ensures efficient energy usage under normal loads, though it can spike to ~170W under stress.Performance:The Ryzen 9 9900X shines in tasks like rendering, video editing, and file compression, often surpassing the Intel Core i7-14700K in tests like Blender and Handbrake. It’s also capable of handling moderate gaming, though it doesn’t significantly outperform older Ryzen models like the Ryzen 9 7900X in gaming scenarios.Thermals:While relatively efficient for its class, the 9900X can run warm under load. A robust cooling solution, such as a liquid cooler, is recommended to maintain optimal performance and longevity.Pros and Cons:Pros:Fast processing for professional workloads.Support for PCIe 5.0 and DDR5.Decent power efficiency for a 12-core CPU.Cons:High thermal output under heavy loads.Limited Eco-mode options, which may impact efficiency in power-limited scenarios.Relatively high price compared to alternatives like the Ryzen 9 7900X.Verdict:The Ryzen 9 9900X is a solid choice for productivity-focused users who need a balance of speed and efficiency. However, for gaming or budget-conscious builds, there might be better options in AMD’s or Intel’s lineup.
