Great inexpensive docket that works for my needs
Just started a new job. New work laptop. New employer did not provide a docketing station like my last employer to WFH. Already had 2 monitors Needed a docket station to connect to my new work laptop. Did not want to spend a whole lot as I was only going to be WFH for 2 days a week. Ordered a more expensive docket station that did not work. Monitors never connected to my laptop via that docket station when I hooked everything up the night before my WFH day. Needed a new one in a pinch otherwise I was going to have to go into the office. Ordered this one as it was overnight delivery to be delivered between 4-8am. Hooked everything up at 6am in the morning and everything worked, my monitors were connected to my laptop. Couple of things to note. This docket station does not come with a usb cable to connect to a power source, you need to provide that. This did not charge my work laptop when I was using it. I brought my work laptop charger home and was able to hook it up to charge while I was working. I just wish the USB-C cable that connects the docket to the laptop was a little longer as it does get a little warm, it did not overheat at the end of my workday, I am hoping it does not overheat. I may get another docket station in the future if it comes up for sale but for now, this works for my needs

Works great for my wife who works from home half of the week
My wife and I both work remote half the week and in office half the week. She is provided one dock for laptop and she keeps that one at work. When she is at home, she needed a way to connect her laptop to the dual monitors in her home office without having to lug around the dock back and forth from work… since the concept of a dock is to leave it on the desk and take the laptop. I got her this one because she needed a cheap dock alternative. This connects to the laptop via USBC connection, and has 2 HDMI outputs for monitors and 2 USB ports for mouse and keyboard. What is especially nice about this one is that it allows her to use both attached monitors as individual extensions of her desktop (windows based laptop). Many other monitor splitters will only duplicate the additional displays, this one (because it connects via USBC) can handle the monitors all individually. It works great, and needs no additional power, it gets power from the USBC plug. If your laptop only has 1 USBC port and needs that one to charge the laptop, you will have an issue, but if you have 2 USBC ports and one is for charging and the other for this adapter, you are good to go. If you have a proprietary charging port and a single USBC plug, then you are good to go because the laptop is not charging from the USBC port. This was worth the purchase, and I have used a lot of Anker products both at home and at work. It worked instantly and didn’t require any extra setup. If you have never used multiple displays, you may have to right click on your desktop, choose Display Settings, and arrange the displays to be in the correct alignment so when you drag from one to the other you are going to the right monitor. If you click “Identify”, the monitors will display what Number the computer has labeled them, and you can tell the laptop what order that you have them on your physical desk by dragging the labeled display on screen to the right spot. You can rearrange them how you like, you can even offset the laptop if it sets lower on the desk than your monitors so that the drag to the other monitors actually flows realistically.

Does what it is supposed to
This Anker laptop docking station does exactly what I purchased it for. I needed a device that was easy to use and did not take up a lot of room and this device did exactly that. I have a monitor connected via HDMI from my MacBook Pro to a KVM switch and it works like a charm.

Stopped working properly after less than a year of owning
Update: Anker offered a replacement or refund for the product. I’ve had many Anker products and this is the first to experience issues like this. Will likely replace it with the same or similar docking station from Anker. It worked really well initially. Generally running 2 monitors off of my laptop for work. It recently started flickering one of the monitor screens every 10 or 20 minutes which wasn’t a huge deal. It now has issues supporting 2 screens and has really weird behavior that sometimes requires troubleshooting to get it going again. Expected it to work longer than it has

Works great with Linux on 2X HDMI
This item works perfectly on linux and also with linux mint cinnamon. Both HDMI and all USB cable work seamlessly. The screen load (initial) might have been extended by a second but given that it is getting routed through an adapter I guess that is ok.

A Must Have For Tablets
As with all Anker products the quality is good. This is super light, feels flimsy. However, all ports function flawlessly. This is a must have for those of you who primarily run tablets for workflow or have limited ports on laptops. This stays in my bag at all times and I’ve been able to feed x2 4K monitors from a Samsung Tablet for video editing.

Really good. Sadly my Dell uses a barrel power connector, but the hub runs two monitors, usb devices and network connection with aplomb

The Anker 553 USB-C Hub has been an absolute game-changer for me. As someone who relies heavily on a variety of peripherals and external displays, this 8-in-1 USB C dock is perfect for my needs.First off, the dual 4K HDMI ports are incredible. The video quality is crystal clear, and there’s no lag or interference. The additional ports are just as impressive. The USB-C to USB adapter allows me to connect all my essential devices like my keyboard, mouse, and external hard drives without any issues. The transfer speeds are fast and reliable, which is crucial for my work. The 1 Gbps Ethernet port is another fantastic feature. It provides a stable and fast internet connection, which is a huge upgrade from relying on Wi-Fi. This has been especially beneficial for video calls and large file uploads. What really stands out is the hub’s build quality and design. This is my replacement hub for the Lention that stopped working after 18 months. I had rated that product 5 Star and it was truly great product till one day it decided not to deliver power from the PD port to laptop. Without power supply passing through, it was useless and I scrapped it. Then started my search for a new hub – the biggest challenge though how to identify one that combines good build quality and functionality with longevity. So, I decided to go with known non-chinese brands and Anker came top on the list. So far, the hub is working like a charm, just like Lention. I am hoping that this will last for at least 3 years to justify the price premium. One small gripe is that the USC C cable attached to the hub is too short (15 Cms, I guess). I keep my laptop in a vertical position with lid closed on a stand and work on the monitor. The USB C port on my laptop is on the upper end of the laptop and when I connect the hub, the hub keeps dangling awkwardly. Had to go with 0.5 M extension cable! I will update this review if this fails in less than 3 years!
