    Love this device!
The device looks great and is fun to use out of it just being an alarm clock.Pros: it’s good value for what you get. It looks great and grabs the attention of my guest. I wish I had the bigger one. Sound is good as well when I connect it to Bluetooth.Cons: I think the app needs an update to make finding certain images easier but that’s just me nitpicking. It’s a great device and this business has the potential to get popular if it gets even more fun and wacky with these devices, as long as they stay updated and creative with its future releases.

    Super FUN
Bought this for the kiddo, easy to set up and use. Divoom products are just so fun and user friendly. It’s very sturdy, good build quality and the speaker is actually really great even though it’s compact. Love the interface as well.

It’s not the device, it’s the App..
It’s a great device and the LED’s on it are stunning. The speakers are loud and the sound quality is also great. The pixel art available is pretty awesome, as well as the (limited) ability of being able to create art yourself. If you’re able to get to the point of making art, the screen updates live as you’re creating something, which I thought was pretty nice. That brings me to the actual issue. While, itself the product is great, to use the iPhone app you have to be borderline schizophrenic or willingly oblivious to your desires of wanting to achieve a simple task or customization on a device you paid so much money for.The confusion which the app brings, makes it unbearable to use. I ended up having to choose simple artwork that I found and leave it at that as I don’t want to ruin it. What initially drew me to this device in particular was the 5th photo, which is labeled ‘Smart Clock’. Although it looks really nice in the photo, in actual reality, the border around the numbers is not a perfectly aligned square, which is absolutely ridiculous to me as it shows that the company had to make an altered image just to promote a product. And the fact that they put actual time and effort into falsifying something as minuscule as a perfectly aligned border, out of all things, is what makes it even crazier.I know that it might seem like I am being dramatic, but I got it for a specific reason as I really like things to be in perfect alignment around me. Whether that be the placement of something, or lines connecting a box on a clock which I have to see all day. To top it all off, you also cannot change the color of the border. It makes me truly wonder what the ‘developer’ was doing, as they were incapable of performing the 1 job they were supposed to, which was to make a useable app.Ultimately, the physical product is great, but the app needs to be completely remade by someone who actually knows how to code, knows what User Experience is, will actually use the app to see what they put on there, and most important of all, has the slightest sense of reality. If you’re able to live without having to ever use the app besides the first time, then I definitely recommend it.

Excellent pixel art display. It’s pretty much exactly what you expect.
As a bluetooth speaker this isn’t anything special (it’s equivalent to a $20-30 BT speaker I’d say), but the LED display is excellent for a 16×16 display. This is a rather low-res display, so it’s really only suitable for displaying some very basic information like time and temperature, but the main feature is the ability to display feeds of pixel art animations or whatever animations you manually select. This might seem a bit childish, but it’s not really any different than any other small table art piece except that it’s more in the trendy and goofy category rather than classical. It also has a music “visualizer” that’s pretty simple. I think it just switches between 16 different images based on amplitude of the audio, but the nice thing about that is that anyone can draw their own visualizer by just creating 16 images.Anyway, this is good for kids and for adults wanting something nerdy or LED-flashy and the quality is pretty good.

There was a time when the ‘Black box’ idea was doing the rounds, the simple sell was that it could do anything. You would hold it on your lap, place on a shelf even fit into your pocket and listen to music whilst doing everything else.A black box theoretically is designed to do everything, when in this case you would say designed to do practically all that could be possible with what technological restraints are allowed. For example what communication channels are available, how does the interface work, how can information be conveyed and so on. You have music or any kind of audio sent by a mobile phone like news and weather and so on.And then there is the screen itself being a 16×16 pixel display quiet large enough to show the time, temperature and all sorts of animations there are thousands on the Divoom APP. The EVO is a very nice graphical display with a loud with a good six-watt speaker giving ample bass.Using the Divoom APP – available in Play – you can upload 16×16 images and also animated GIFs. There is a limit as to how many frames from a GIF you can import which is 60 frames.Essentially the APP/phone serve as a remote control for the EVO. Using the APP you can upload graphics, stream audio via Bluetooth, configure the clock, calendar, weather, temperature and display. And next the visualisations, which to me seem to be nothing but animated GIFs and not built in random graphics generation in the EVOs firmware. Shame really unless I am wrong of course. But of course a compromise is supplied in the form of a visualisation editor with the colours, patterns, blending and timing. Text handling is also supported for scrolling messages. The design editor gives you the ability to make still and animated frames for the EVO. The editor is adequate and allows batch imports from an animated GIF.Importing a GIF is as simple as tapping on the circular plus icon. Two sliding trackbars one for the animation speed and the other for media volume, what that would be for I do not know as GIFs do not contain sound. There are a few fun pastime features including but not just a gimmick is the music generator. Some of the instruments serve as a continuous loop and others as one-shot fill em in sounds. The visuals are just as effective. The EVO has ability to record up to 60 seconds of audio that can no doubt be used for an alarm. To help you go to sleep the EVO supports audio called alpha waves which are sounds soothing enough to send you to sleep.I haven’t tried them yet which is probably why I am finding it easier to sleep these days. There are plenty of different sounds to choose and can be assigned to whatever alarms you wish.Pre-configured daily events starting from when you wake up and go to sleep. This is simply for convenience mainly because if your EVO is up on the shelf and you cannot be bothered to reach it and you can just as easily access your phone and so on.The EVO has a built in battery and lasts a fair time. It communicates via Bluetooth and is no problem to set up. Visualisations work well. All in all I give this wonder-gadget five stars.Muscipula

The Timebox Evo is one of the best gifts one can buy for a friend or for themselves, it really makes a great addition to one’s desk or bedside table with its fully customizable 16×16 RGB LED pixel display and a very powerful bluetooth speaker. being a not so artistic person myself, i particularly the enjoy the feature that allows one to pick a picture from my phone storage and automatically transform it into pixel art. community creations are also pretty good. id recommend you to check out the application and community pixel art regardless of whether you’re buying the product. The app used to control the display could use a few updates and some tweaks to improve the overall user experience but in its current state i find it functional and aesthetically pleasingoverall, i see a bright future for these kinds of products and Divoom as a tech company.

This little speaker is amazing. First of everyone is talking about the pixel display of course. But let me tell you that the sound quality is quite good. I like everyone else bought this for the pixels and to be honest wasn’t expecting much from the speaker, but it’s really on par with my JBL Clip 5 which costs about the same. But on top of the unexpected good speaker you get the pixel display which is so much fun! The app is all community based, so there’s literally millions of animations to download and add to the device. There’s a section with pro creators and they really make some amazing little animations.I was also amazed by just how quality everything seems to be, from packaging right to the product itself. The packaging is really nice and it really feels like a treat to open it up. Everything is packed well and the speaker itself is well protected. The case comes in a sleeve then the speaker itself is in a sleeve as well and then wrapped in protective foam and then on top of that is covered with the screen protector peel which is always a delight to peel off and see that fresh shiny brand new glossy black appear. The product itself the outside is sort of rubbery which feels very premium. Its quite heavy and certainly seems the battery inside has some good juice to keep this thing going for a while. The sound quality is good and the display just looks amazing specially in the dark. Since its just leds, black means really black. I had some floating hearts animation going at night and it really looked like the little hearts where just floating in mid air as the rest stayed completely black and my room was completely dark. There was no telling where the display ends and it just looked like those little hearts where floating. It was so cool and was staring at it for an hour haha.I guess I also should mention some negatives, but really don’t take these too seriously as this is the most fun I had for 40 euro’s (got it on sale) I had since a long while. The app is just plain confusing. The app is really about the community creations, which I really love because there are some amazing creators on there. But in my opinion they have overdone it a little like there is a chat room in there and everything which in my opinion is just a bit too much and shouldn’t have been in there. Because there’s so many things in the app it gets kind of confusing on where is what. I’m working in IT and even I had to take some time to figure out where all the options are and how its supposed to work. There’s really nothing about it in the manual and it’s just kinda trying out everything. But I guess once you figured it out and also remember everything it’s fine and you know how to set it up.But yeah to be honest, this is really all the negative I have really. I just really love this little box!2 things that could have made it even betterWished it had Wifi making it more work as a stand alone device at home. Now it needs bluetooth basically for everything, making it more a bluetooth speaker to take along with your phone instead of like a standalone speaker you can place somewhere in your house as a display. For example to show weather it needs an active bluetooth connection which idk makes it less usable just as an info display. I really think this device is more of a home smart speaker more like a Google Home or something, but now it operates more like a JBL Clip to just use with your phone.Another thing I really wished it could do is install Apps and be open for external developers to create apps. Now you can just upload your own animations, but it would have been amazing if you could also install Apps. Like for example I don’t like the clock options that are available, the few clock options that are there are really ugly in my opinion and you can’t really customize them either. Really wished I could make my own clock app and install it on the device. Like if this thing would be opened up for apps through some SDK or something the possibilities would really have been endless. I mean in the end of the day this clearly is just a mini computer. I’m sure there is some ARM processor inside with an OS and surely their own weather and clock etc are just apps. Opening this thing up for 3th party developers to do whatever would make this thing go really next level. Hopefully in some future updates they will add this option. I’d be the first person to jump on the SDK for sure! But yeah my negative points are just more of wishes I would think make this device go from Amazing to Extraordinary! But already its totally worth the price in its current state and already I’m thinking about getting one just for the bedroom so I don’t need to move this one around the house where I go all the time haha.I can really recommend this to everyone and their moms. It’s just so much fun to have these little animations going. Like last night I putted on a little fireplace animation with some crackling fireplace sounds through the bluetooth speaker. Best sleep I had in a long time haha. Too bad the battery was dead in the morning but I’ve had it on on full brightness for the whole and day and evening already. Can’t say exactly when the battery went flat in the night as I was sleeping. But the battery lasted at least like 8 hours if not more? So yeah thumbs up for battery life too.10/10 as is and would be 20/10 if they update it with the possibility to create your own apps and not just animations!
