Summer Essential: A Bucket Hat That Actually Delivers **Updated**
Update:It was really windy today, but I still needed to squeeze in a hike. I never appreciated the stretchy band around the base of the cap part, above the brim. I tightened it up and the hat never left my head. I already gave this five stars, so the rating stays the same, but the appreciation for the extra features has deepened.Original Review:This Home Prefer bucket hat merges functionality with thoughtful design in a way most sun hats miss. The crisp white fabric (90% nylon, 10% spandex) provides serious UPF 50+ protection while the ventilation holes actually work, keeping your head remarkably cool during extended outdoor wear. Unlike many wide-brimmed hats that flop awkwardly, this one maintains its shape while providing genuine ear protection – a crucial feature often overlooked in cheaper options. The adjustable drawstring accommodates head sizes from 22-24 inches comfortably without the dreaded “hat headache” that comes from too-tight elastics. The foldable brim feature proves genuinely useful for packing, though the hand-wash-only care instructions are slightly inconvenient. What sets this hat apart is its balance of practicality and appearance – it offers serious sun protection without making you look like you’re mounting an arctic expedition. For anyone seeking reliable sun protection beyond just facial coverage, this hat’s ear-protecting brim width makes it a standout option in the crowded field of summer headwear.

Very nice packable sun hat
This is a very nice sun hat. It is just a little large for me, which means I can tighten the band a little, and the top of the hat feels nice and roomy and cool! The hat has a nice, soft, absorbent sweatband, so it will be comfortable even when out in full sun. It is also UPF 50+ rated so it will be blocking that sun from my head. The hat is very flexible, and I can fold it up and stuff it in my pocket.I have had several other hats of this style before, but they have all been somewhat uncomfortable to wear long-term. This hat beats them all.I am trying to figure out if I keep it in the car, and handy for random hikes; or do I put it with my gardening equipment… I think I should get another one of these!

A comfortable, adjustable and practical hat, but it is prone to wrinkles
This sun hat from Home Prefer is adjustable and foldable, but it has wrinklesDesign: Made of 90% nylon and 10% spandex, this hat is designed for travel and comfort. This review is for the dark grey version, though it is available in black, white, light grey, light khaki, light green or navy blue. The brim has foldable seams on the left and right sides, allowing it to fold in half for easy packing. The upper portion of the hat is made of very thin material with vent holes in the back for added airflow. A tightening string at the back adjusts the fit, and an adjustable chin strap secures the hat for windy conditions. There were also a few loose string ends in the stitching. Those can be trimmed up, and hopefully they won’t unravel.Appearance: Although the brim mostly returns to its normal shape after being unfolded, there are noticeable wrinkles along one edge. The top part also has several visible wrinkles in the front.Usage: The hat is comfortable to wear and the tightening band allows for easy adjustment. During a day with 20mph winds and stronger gusts, the hat stayed in place and effectively blocked the sun. My daughter also tried it on, and after adjusting the straps, she found it was comfortable as well. Although it is designed for adults, it can be adjusted to fit kids as well.Final thoughts: This hat is comfortable, adjustable, and practical for outdoor activities like gardening or fishing. The folding feature makes it convenient for packing, but the wrinkling may be a drawback for those seeking a more stylish appearance.

Good Hat for Sunny Weather
I spend quite a bit of time outside in my garden during the summer months and I am always looking for protection as I have this hair. This hat is wonderful for the job. The fabric is not waterproof and that’s actually a good thing as I like to soak my hat in water when it gets really hot to help me stay cool. The brim is broad enough to offer plenty of protection to my face and the perforations in the crown should let hot air out but we’ll see how it goes. I chose a ;lighter color as prior experience with hats has proven that black or dark colored hats may not be as cool as the lighter ones. Overall, a nice little hat, easy to fit (it has a drawstring to size the hat down and it works great), and stays on via an adjustable chin strap. Recommend.

Soft and comfortable to wear
I really like this hat. It is soft and comfortable to wear. I think it would fit most because there is a cord along the inside of the hat that is adjustable, and it also has a strap under the chin that can be pulled tight if a little loose. I’ve worn it in some very windy conditions and the brim did flop around some but I wasn’t concerned the hat would blow off. I live in Florida and it can be very hot so I’m glad it is lightweight and protects my face from direct sun.

I like that you can tighten the band to fit your head, but the band lining part sticks out oddly
I like that you can pull the string and keep the elastic basnd at just thr righttightnes to help hold on the hat in the wind. But oddly the inner band which is alighter color– doesnt fit up into the hat when you put it on, but sticks out from under thehat and shows around your head. I dont like the looks of that. Most hats the band staystucked up into the inside of the hat. I think maybe it is made too short, so when you put iton by pushing the hat onto your head,– the band doesnt push up along with the hat– but sticks out.Would not buy again because of this.

Packable hat with a wide brim
This hat is exactly what I was looking for, good coverage and easy to bring with me. The brim has a seam that gives it a natural place where you can fold it in half without ruining it, which is something my other similar hats don’t have. The ventilation is good and the fabric is protective.
