Bought these for my son, who just turned nine. It’s early in the season, but so far these sliding shorts have worked very, very well. They provide extra padding not only for sliding, but also in case he gets hit with the ball (this is his first year of kid pitch, so that’s a distinct possibility). I was nervous about buying these, given what many reviews said about sizing problems, but I’m glad I took the chance–my son likes them a lot and says they are very comfortable.A note about sizing: my son is about 4’9″ and weighs 85 pounds–he is solid muscle. He wears a size 10 in pants from both Old Navy and The Children’s Place, to give you a sense of his size. The size large briefs he wore for protection last year (made by another company) are too small now, but given what everyone here said, I ordered a medium in these. I’m very glad I did, because the medium is a little loose in the waist; a large would fall off him!

My son like’s these sliding shorts, just make sure you get the right size, I bought medium for a 9/10 yr old, and they fell off him, granted he is thin. We just saved those for when he gains some weight, and bought a small. It has the cup enclosure and fits great. It also provides needed protection on the hips for when he slides. I recommend to those searching for a decent priced solution to your young baseball player.

I bought these for my almost 13yr old daughter. She’s 5’5 127lbs. For reference, she wears a size 7 in junior jeans, and a size medium in junior shirts. I was worried that these would be too small, but they fit her just right. I will update the durability with more wear, and after they get washed a few times.As far as the padding, there is decent amount. This will help ward off her getting raspberries from sliding, which is my main concern. I’m thankful she was still able to fit into these youth sizes, because she is adult sized, and in adult clothing, with an athletic build. I would recommend these.UPDATE: These lasted all last season, and she’s still wearing them for the start of this season. They’ve washed well and have held up to her running, squatting, and sliding just fine. She didn’t get any raspberries either, which is my main concern. I hope my pictures and experience help give you an idea of what to expect in person, or help you in some way.

Great for baseball players
I purchased these for both of my baseball player sons ages 8 (size small) and 10 (size medium). They work so much better than when they were wearing the protective cups in their underwear. They don’t have to adjust these because the cup slips in the pocket of the shorts. Also have nice padding on thighs so it lessens the impact when they slide into bases. They are happy to wear them. Will definitely be purchasing again.
