    Hawke and Vale…their story
There is everything to love about Hawke’s story in the Cold Fury series. I one-clicked this book a long time ago and was anxiously awaiting it’s arrival.I loved this book from page one. It had a different feel to it, mostly I think because Vale was Hawke’s girlfriend from their past and things ended badly. The background given to us by the author only helped that moment when Hawke realizes she is working for his team be much stronger. I could feel the shock for him, almost as if he had been hit full force by a Hurricane. And Vale…she knew he was going to be there and pulled it all together to seem indifferent to him.Vale and Hawke’s story isn’t an easy one, they both have issues from their past relationship to work out and Sawyer Bennett does an excellent job of working through them. I was so glad that ‘everything’ wasn’t out in the open immediately. They dealt with the initial stuff, the things, but their was that cloud hanging over them because one secret….one thing that was lingering had not been discussed. I felt myself urging them on to talk about it.SPOILER ALERT*** I almost died when Vale told Hawke she loved him. I was talking to my book, telling him to tell her what upset him still, what he was holding onto….but he didn’t. Forgiveness is the true key to this story. Without it their can be nothing.Hawke’s right up there as one of my favorite Cold Fury Hockey men. I loved his and Vale’s story. I was so happy to see the other guys as well and what is happening in their lives. I highly recommend this book. Sawyer has a winner with this series.

Great second chance love story, love this series
Hawke (Cold Fury #5) by Sawyer Bennett4 stars!!“I understand now how the young heart and mind fails to see reality and prefers to live inside a false sense of security all in the name of true love.”I am a sucker for second chance romance and Sawyer Bennett really captured this with Hawke and Vale’s story. Once again I was swept away in ice skates, testosterone and the Cold Fury team. After a four-year romance Hawke and Vale split just before Hawke is due to leave for the NHL. Hawke was totally blindsided and so are you the reader. Hawke has no idea why and is devastated and it is the demise of this relationship that scorned this man’s heart going forward. Hawke had no heart to give, Vale had kept it.“I did it because I was being loyal to myself.”Fast forward seven years and Hawke has been drafted to the Cold Fury team, he is beginning to make his mark but once again he is totally blindsided when the newest team member is revealed…Vale.Vale has been studying sports medicine and has joined the Cold Fury team, she knew what she was walking into but nothing could prepare her for coming face to face with Hawke once again. Old memories and old feelings resurface but she is determined to keep them and Hawke at arm’s length. The trouble is with true love is that it never goes away, it seems that these two have some soul searching to do and some explaining.“I wasn’t the same. She wasn’t the same. What we had was different now…”When their paths cross once again, can the pain of the past be forgotten? Will grudges be harboured or will that deep connection they had before come to the surface once again? Sawyer Bennett slowly ekes out what happened when they split and while Vale made rash decisions it seems that fate just wasn’t on their side at the time…but is it now?“It only reinforces that my love survived hurt and betrayal but yours wasn’t strong enough.”This is a book about second chances but most of all forgiveness. Learning to trust once again and opening yourself to potential obliteration, putting your heart out there and understanding but most of all working together. There are some real tender moments in this book and the majority of these are between Hawke and Vale’s dad. I loved their back story, I loved the part that Vale’s dad played and it was mesmerising to watch this man whore party animal change before your eyes. Vale was fiercely protective, extremely independent and she had a lot of soul searching to do to. She needed to learn to take a step back, that sometimes she couldn’t control everything and most of all communication is key.“We have a great history. We had one bad moment. But it’s clear that’s never going to be forgiven, so let’s just call a spade a spade and realize that you and I are not meant to be.”I love this series and I love Sawyer Bennett’s writing, I cannot wait for Max’s story, who is up next. One thing you cannot deny is that Sawyer Bennett creates the most adorable male characters who are only too eager to hand in their man card for the heart of a good woman.

    Loved it!
Hawke’s story was just as delicious as his cover. I always enjoy second chance romances. Add in the hot-as-hell hockey player, a storm of emotions over the past and a feisty, independent girl, and you have a great read. Hawke and Vale’s connection and chemistry was palpable. It was heartbreaking to see how much they both still hurt over the way things went down between them. It’s sad how decisions made when you’re young, impulsive and stubborn, can leave a lasting impression on your life. I always want to scream at the characters, in these situations, to just talk and tell each other the truth. Air out all the hurt feelings and clarity will come. I do love those moments though, when they finally see things clearly. Hawke and Vale were a great couple, with a true soulmate connection. I loved their journey back together.

Hawke is a typical athlete, egotistical, arrogant and has woman falling all over him. He had only one regret and that is the women he loved let him go seven years earlier, which has lead to him being a one and done person now! Unexpectedly, Vale turns up on the Cold Fury Hockey team as an assistant and throws Hawke into a tail spin. Vale never revealed to him why she let him go, but the real reason is a bit of a surprise! After overcoming numerous and complicated obstacles, they finally get the HEA they both want and we as readers need!! Great read, onto Max next!

Hawke can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read it along with the other Cold Fury Hockey books, its based on second chances.Hawke and Vale were together as teenagers but when Hawke hit the big time Vale broke his heart by leaving him but not without destroying herself as well. Hawke didn’t look back and enjoyed a life of plenty, professional hockey, drinking and partying but what happens when he transfers to a new hockey team and to his surprise Vale also took a job working with them can they both let go of the past and work together or will it come back to bite them both.Well that’s for you to go find out this book is definitely worth 5 stars so go grab it and see what all the fuss is about with these HOT Hockey Players you wont be disappointed.Another great read from Sawyer Bennett xx
