NICE, Affordable for Small/Home “OFFICE” System. VERY limited for Gaming FYI!
DOES NOT COME WITH HP’S USUAL BLOATWARE. Its nice and fast and very easy to set up. It’s a good system, BUT I DON’T GAME, bear that in mind. FYI, this is NOT a gamers system! I like this Intel i7-14700 processor – I am quite pleased with it. It more than exceeds what I need it to do – light office work, email, etc. runs some simple software I use it for – I use it to primarily run my large Logos Bible Software and – it exceeds my needs by far. Methinks I got my $$-worth and then some! I just plugged my two external HD’s into it and off I went! Good system!

Powerhouse! Limited Upgradability.
I was looking at upgrading my 5600G gaming system and saw this as a great opportunity. The i7-14700 is crazy with a multicore passmark score of 43060 (vs my 5600G which is 19872!), and 32GBs of RAM is sweet.IO wise, this machine is pretty basic. On the back, 4x USB A (USB 3), gigabit rj45, HDMI, VGA and audio ports. On the front we have 4 more USB A, a USB C, SD card and an audio jack. Cool to have so much IO on the front, but the back in my opinion is a little lacking, especially video port options.Internal expansion – it has a single pciex16 slot and two ram slots (that come populated with 2x 16gb ram sticks). NVME populated with a 1tb ssd, and a single sata port on the motherboard with data and available power cables populated. As the description indicates, it comes with Windows 11 Pro.If you want a typical “office machine”, this thing is a monster performance wise, and has the ability to run two monitors at 1080p (although VGA for one isnt great). I wanted to upgrade the graphics card on my machine to give it some gaming capability, which ended up being a project. As mentioned, this machine has a pciex16 slot (which is the only expansion slot), but a proprietary power supply. Worse yet, it is only a 310 watt and no headers to accommodate a graphics card. I decided to upgrade my machine to the largest PSU hp makes for these series which is a 500w (model 795-0003UR L05757-800). I also needed to get a 4-Pin 2×2 ATX extension and a GPU 6 to 8 pin adapter to power my RTX 3060. After ALL of this, my 3060 works exactly as expected and this machine is solid mid-tier gaming machine. In summary, a good, compact machine out-of-the-box for office work, a very capable gaming machine, but requires a fair bit of upgrade/modification.

Strong business desktop, but limited gaming potential !!
The HP Envy Desktop PC, powered by the Intel Core i7-14700, 32 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD, is an excellent option for business users or as a medium-sized home server. Its robust performance comes from the powerful 14-core i7 processor, making it more than capable of handling most business applications with ease, whether running office productivity tools or multitasking across multiple programs. The 32 GB of RAM provides ample memory for demanding tasks like data analysis, virtualization, or light photo and video editing, ensuring smooth performance when switching between tasks. For business and server use, the Envy Desktop offers consistent and reliable performance. While its Intel UHD Graphics 770 isn’t designed for gaming or graphics-heavy tasks, it works well for day-to-day office work and media streaming. Developers or designers working on non-intensive projects could use this machine, but it’s clear it isn’t meant for high-end gaming or graphics-intensive design work. The system’s limitations in heavy-duty gaming or video rendering are mainly due to its limited graphics capabilities and 310W proprietary power supply.Speaking of power, the 310W power supply restricts the system’s ability to support high-end graphics cards or other power-hungry components. Users seeking to upgrade the PC for gaming or more intensive creative tasks will find that the current configuration lacks upgradability. While the power supply is sufficient for business or home server use, those looking for a future-proof machine with greater upgradability should consider custom-built options. In terms of expansion, the HP Envy Desktop includes one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x1 slot. While this provides some flexibility, it’s limited. The PCIe x16 slot is typically used for adding a discrete graphics card, but due to the power supply’s constraints, only low-to-mid-range cards are feasible. High-end models would require a power supply upgrade, which may be difficult given its proprietary nature. The PCIe x1 slot allows for additional expansion, such as adding networking or sound cards, making the system somewhat adaptable for business users or light productivity enhancements. However, from a graphics standpoint, it’s clear this system isn’t intended for gaming or professional-grade graphics work. One of the highlights of this PC is the minimal bloatware. Unlike many pre-built systems, the HP Envy Desktop comes with a clean installation of Windows 11 Pro, optimizing performance right out of the box. This is a significant benefit, as many systems come loaded with unnecessary software that takes up storage space and slows performance. With this PC, you get a lean system ready to meet your specific needs without spending time uninstalling unwanted programs. In summary, the HP Envy Desktop PC is an excellent choice for small business owners, home office users, or those setting up a home server. Its powerful Intel Core i7 processor and 32 GB of RAM make it a reliable workhorse for a wide range of professional applications. While it’s not designed for gaming or intensive creative tasks due to its limited graphics and power supply, it excels in productivity and multitasking, offering a well-rounded experience for most users. For reference, I’ve also added screenshots of some basic benchmarks and internals.
