Works GREAT as a macropad.
I bought this to act as a macro pad for my game PC. I have a stream deck that controls my streaming PC, but I needed something simple to run some hotkeys on my game pc since my 60% keyboard created some less than ideal situations.The software can be tricky to figure out since the UI is no the best and the software itself is not very intuitive.Howewver, the keypad itself is phenomenal. The switches feel great (all mechanical) and the base is sturdy enough to stay on my desk without sliding around when I use it. The RGB’s included are bright and have several modes that can be controlled through the software.

I use this for work, I can’t install any software on my work computer for security reasons. I use a few macros, so this fits the bill since I can program it on my personal computer and then use it on my work computer. Programing simple keys or text is self-explanatory. The macros are a little more challenging without instructions.HERE’S HOW TO PROGRAM THE MACROSI need “alt+1” as a simple macro. To program this macro, I did this:Down + alt + 1 (This tells it to press down and hold “alt” plus the “1” key.)Then: Up + alt + 1 (This tells it release the keys)It’s simple, but the instructions don’t explain it at all.Once it’s set up it works great and I’m very pleased with it.

The macro number pad worked great when I got it years ago, but now its a legacy device and the old software is unobtainable and the new software doesn’t work, so the device is no longer usable unfortunately.I’m sure the newer version works great, but I’m not about to send more money on a device because a company doesn’t want to support its long term customers.

Worked great for less than a month
I’ve pretty much said it all in the title. I have had the 9 key keyboard for less than a month and it suddenly disconnects from my 1 year old laptop. Sometimes the back lights stay on and the keys stop working sometimes the whole thing just stops working. I’ve updated all drivers and ran all windows updates and restarted the laptop a number of times. It just comes down to a poorly made product. Its a shame because before the problems i actually quite enjoyed the board even if the software you need for it looks like spamware from 1994 and is completely unintuitive.Edit: Instead of waiting half a week for their customer service to respond and then waiting for whatever exchange policy if that exists. I just tried the keyboard with a different chord and magically it started to work again. keeping the 1 star rating because that is part of the product and the product was low quality. So only buy this product if you are willing to purchase a replacement better quality chord.

Updated Software Makes Programming Macros Super Easy
I read some reviews that say programming macros is difficult to figure out. Well, I purchased this in 2024 and on Koolertron’s website, they have this item’s software download that was updated in 2022. I’m guessing that the bad reviews are pre-2022 purchases (the included user manual is useless; you must download from their website).The updated software is super easy to understand. You add a command with the Add Action button, repeat as necessary, then save the macro in one of the pre-assigned macro tabs via the Save button. Then you go to Keymap, select Macro, tap the macro you just created (M0-M15, but you can create more if needed) and then tap the key you want to assign it to. You don’t even need to save the key assignment. The key is assigned instantly. It’s that easy. If you still need help, there is a video tutorial on their website.The only complaint if I had one would be that each time you launch the software on your computer, the pop-up window appears asking, “Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device.” Kind of annoying, but completely safe as others have noted. Overall, this item is a solid 5 stars. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I’m completely new to using this sort of keyboard but it was easy enough to set up. Was a bit skeptical about downloading their software but the antivirus I use (Kaspersky) seems to be fine with it.
