Nicest clear enclosures for SSD drives I’ve used.
We used to use Samsung’s external SDD drives in the Archive. But Samsung changed their design in a way to make it hard to paper label their drives. Labeling is very important to us, as we can have 15 to 20 external drives floating around at any given time.The ORICO 2.5” Hard Drive Enclosure Type-C USB 3.1 Gen2 is simple to use. The top cover slides off. Drive pops in. slide cover back. If you have trouble getting the top to slide from fingers slipping, put on a set of thin rubber glove. Works great! We tried their ridge top clear case and didn’t like it.The enclosure comes with a couple of pieces of foam rubber to use as shims, if you are using thinner SDD drives. The foam will eventually break down, so be aware of that. But foam should last a few years.SDD and HDD drives are used for temporary back up only. If it is digital and you want to preserve it…put it on M-Disc or high-quality Blu-ray disc. AZO DVD may last 15 – 25 years, if it is kept in the dark and cool. M-Disc DVD can last a year in the sun with no issues, whereas AZO DVD are dead after 3.5 weeks of sun. All Blu-ray discs are not the same. Some die within a few weeks of sun. Others can take a year of sun. But that is another review. This isn’t guesswork, we maintain a large optical media library and everything we use gets torture stress tested before adopting it.Photo shows Samsung 870 EVO SDD 4TB drives in the cases. Seems like quite good, but when I tried to re-open the case I felt like I might break it. but I like this it is transparent/clear. Except how would this have the air circulated to cool off…

Good case for making a bare HDD into an external USB disk.
Inexpensive and works as advertised. Great for turning any 2.5″ SATA HDD into an external USB disk drive. The fact that is is transparent allows you to read the label on the drive which can be very useful.

Install was easy and I really like the clear case. I have a couple of solid black cases for my old SSD drives and had to use a label maker to identify how much capacity it has. The install was quick and it worked perfectly.

Handy drive enclosure
Got this to house the SATA SSD from my old computer, to use it as an archival backup. It works like any other external drive; the SSD draws limited power, so it can be USB powered, rather than needing a separate power supply (most 2.5″ mechanical drives can be used as well). I have several similar cases, different brands, and this works as well as any of them. The clear case is nice, it allows you to easily see the drive itself. Comes with a cable having a USB type A plug.

I bought this so that I could repurpose old HDDs as external storage devices that I use infrequently. It’s a cost effective and perfect solution for that purpose. The electronics interface allowed more compatibility with other devices than I have experienced using a simple SATA cable.

Pulled out the old drive and inserted in into the ORICO 2.5 USB 3 External Hard Drive Enclosure Casing . The old Hitachi HD fit inside the casing snug, without any need for any HD spacers. The SATA slot were nicely aligned and fit well. Using te supplied USB 3.0 cable, the HD disk easily connected to the PC. No drivers needed, So I can now use my old internal HD drive as an external HD with this cable. A blue LED on the front lights up when its connected to a PC,All my OS- Windows 7, Windows 10 and Linux recognized the drive upon connection.Recommended
