Disk Cloning Magic – It just works!
i’m very cautious when it comes to Chinese branded stuff. it’s just how it is, a lot of times its just trash. but i needed something to clone multiple disks at a time and this seemed like it would fit the bill…. and fit the bill it did! this thing is a beast. i have easily cloned over 100 drives so far and it works flawlessly (knock on wood). it just works. it’s crazy. super happy with the purchase. individually it took me about 15 minutes to install, reboot, and validate the install. do the math .. this thing paid for itself with the time it has saved me!! truly fantastic!!having said that i would never attach this to a physical computer because i just don’t trust companies, their drivers for things, their software, all of that. also the instructions are poorly written english, which i understand, but in the age of AI it shouldn’t happen. to clone disks you hold the clone button for 3-5 seconds, release, make sure the blue light on disk 2 goes out, hold clone button again for 3-5 seconds, release, and then just let it do its thing! it takes about 15 minutes to clone four disks at a clip. i am THRILLED!the unit itself is constructed well, doesnt feel flimsy or crappy (except for the disk tray flaps to help protect the drive connector).overall, if you need something to clone disks without spending an insane amount of money – THIS WORKS AWESOME!

Important Suggestions Prior 2 Purchase
There is a slight lag in speed (Drives Recognition) at inital startup; Larger drives approching more than 12TB. Cooling is much better, due to the aluminum open body of docking station. A bit noisy occasionally when in operation. Otherwise a good docking station for drives, especially larger hd-units.

Layout, Power and Multiple Bays is Great! Chipset JMS576 is a disappointment in 2024
The Orico 5 Bay Docking Station (6656C3) is a great product if you just use it for cloning or know beforehand that you won’t have issues with JMS576 for disconnections in PC mode.Feature set is great, it has rubber pads that alleviate vibration noise from the drives, layout offers no problem with overheating and the provided cables are great, with the power unit being external with plenty of cable length to allow for easy installation and the USB-C cable with USB-A adaptor is a fantastic addition, allowing this dock to work on any setup basically.This would have been the best docking station ever if it was not for the chipset. It runs under JMS576 which dates back to 2016 (almost a decade old) and is known for disconnections as it doesn’t support all new USB capabilities. I can’t attest for the firmware version on it as I ran it on a Mac and there are no flashing tools available from JMicron or Orico, however, within a few hours of use I had several disconnects, while other docking stations I have with ASMedia chipset works just fine.Orico, if you read this, please, update the chipset or at least reach out to JMicron and figure a better firmware that won’t disconnect. I would suggest switching chipsets but that is a much bigger ordeal.Alas, this product will be returned.

3.5・2.5HDDが５台挿せてしまうハードディスクケースです。５台挿せるので本体は大きくなります。以前から内蔵ハードディスクを外付けにできる機器はあり、私も使用しておりましたが、認識したり、しなかったり、コピー中にエラーになることも多々あり、私の所有していた機器は今ひとつ安定して動作しなかったです。こちらの機器の関しては、PCモード、CLONEモード共にエラーになることなく動作し感動しました。取り外して保管しておいたHDDの整理に便利に活用できています。クローンも簡単にできるので大切なHDDのバックアップも苦にならなくなりました。PCに接続しなくとも複製できるのもいいと思います。

商品ページの梱包の項目にて「商品パッケージで発送する」となっている通り、製品の外箱に伝票を貼り付けて送られてきます。購入を検討されている方はその点ご注意ください。内容物としては本体の他、ACアダプター、電源ケーブル、USBケーブル、取説（英語・中国語）が付属します。USBケーブルはC to Cですが、Type-Aに変換するアダプターがケーブルに取り付けられています。筐体の側面はアルミ製なのでHDDの冷却に効果がありそうな感じがしますし、頑丈そうにも思います。ただ肝心の本体部分についてはSATAのコネクタを隠している蓋の設計・組み立てが甘いのか、1つは端で擦っているような感じがしてスムーズさに欠け、1つは1度使っただけで微妙に沈んだ状態のままという感じに…これについては個体差の可能性が高いように思いますが、そうだとしても残念なことに変わりはありませんね。背面に電源ボタンとは別に「PC」「CLONE」の切り替えスイッチがあり、外付けHDDケースとして使用するなら「PC」に、HDDのクローンを作成したいなら「CLONE」にします。まずPCに接続してみましたが、認識するまでに10秒程度掛かりました。またHDDを付け外しする度に全HDDの再接続になるようです。5ベイのHDDケースですし制御の都合上その辺りは仕方ないのかなとは思います。説明書の中のクローンの説明で電源を入れてから10秒待つというようなことが書かれていました。PCに接続する場合も同様に待つ必要があるのだと思います。付属のType-Aのアダプターを使用した状態でのテストになりますが、HDDの速度については問題ありませんでした。ただSSDについてはなぜか読み書きともに250MB/s程度しか出ませんでした。他の外付けHDDケースではPCの同じUSBポートに接続しても問題なくSSDとしての速度が出ることを確認したので、この製品の本体かUSBケーブルが原因なのだろうなと思っています。これ以上の検証は私の環境ではできませんが、SSDを接続する目的の場合は他の製品の方が良いのかもしれません。クローン機能はソースベイに接続したHDDのクローンを作成する機能です。クローン機能は本体だけで使えるのでUSBケーブルは不要です。取説の通りに背面のボタンを操作すればクローン機能を実行することが可能です。単一のHDDに対してのみのクローンしか試していませんが、問題なく完了しました。Windowsで確認してみるとクローン元と同じサイズのパーティションとして問題なくクローンされており、ボリュームの拡張については自分で行う必要がありました。5ベイのHDDケースとしては、最初に10秒程度待つ必要がありますが認識さえしてしまえば安定して使用できました。クローン機能についても問題なく使用できましたし、HDDを接続したりクローン目的でなら使える製品だとは思います。

動画をいっぱい入れたHDDを某メーカーの保護ケースに入れて保管し、必要に応じて同じメーカーの1台だけ繋げるHDDケースで使用していました。これは何と5台も同時に繋げるので便利で圧巻です。使っていた保護ケースは接続部分だけ外してHDDケースに挿せるのですが、これは純正ではないので少しだけ浮きますがケースに入れたままで使えました。USB-A端子しかないパソコン、USB-C端子しかないパソコン両方を所有しているので、接続ケーブルがUSB-CとUSB-A両方に対応しているのはありがたいです。なお、クローン機能は今のところ使う機会はないですが、必要になれば使ってみたいと思っています。

PC周辺機器をいっぱい出してるORICO製品ってことでそこそこ信用できる印象ですが、Amazon商品説明画像に日本語表記は一切なく、届いた品の取説も中国語オンリー。Amazonの商品説明画像が英語表記なんだから、せめて英語版ぐらいは用意してほしかったところ。実質1万円ほどでクローン機能付きの5ベイHDDケースとしてはまずまずの製品だと思いますが、最大伝送速度はSATA3の規格限界約600MB/sの半分にも満たない230MB/sほど。まあSATA2レベルってことです。なのでこれはやはりHDD専用と思ったほうが。SATAの2.5インチSSDでも使えますけど230MB/sじゃSSDには正直イマイチ。とにかくまずはAmazonの商品説明画像も含めて日本語対応を！

HDDクローンは使っていないのでなんとも言えない。PCモードでフォルダを開くとき、テキストエディタで文章を保存するときに、あるいはHDD上のソフトを使うときに、HDDが休止状態だと5秒間待たされる、とても使っていられない。WindowsのHDD電源設定を変えても変わらない。バックアップ用としては使えると思うが、頻繁に使う用途に向かない。返品処理する。
