Great modern M65 jacket
I compared all the specs and prices of the various M65’s and am very happy to have chosen this one. It is true to size, I am 5,11 and 165lbs in pretty good shape average build. Purchased about 2 weeks ago and have been wearing it. Bought a large and it fits perfectly with or without the liner and it looks great. Fitment was/is a major obstacle to decipher among all the various brands and m65 mil specs when you are shopping. Ended up I gambled and won. It comes with the insert. The features are exactly as the original M65. It has buttons for a cold weather parka hood and has two spare buttons sewn in. Foldout overlays for back of palm. Stitching is very good. The material is not 100% cotton, it is a polyester nylon something which I prefer since the fabric is very water resistant. The only draw back some may see is the left handed zipper. This jacket is sourced from a German supplier so it follows European customs on zipper placement. I have contacted a seamstress who said it would be no problem to switch sides of the zipper but I am now growing accustomed to it and may not pursue that. I wore it to the range on a 50 degree day with wind speed at 10 to 15 mph. It was cold enough to use it and I was fine. Spent about 5 hours at the range outdoors in the wind and I was toasty warm the whole time without the liner, a t-shirt, flannel, sweatshirt and this jacket. So I know it will handle cold weather.You might have a hard time putting 2 liners in this jacket as some do with the oversized M65’s. But with what I had on at the range it would easily handle the liner that came with it and that should take it down into the 30’s maybe lower. I won’t be out much below that here in the sun belt.It’s a great buy, the quality is there, it fits me and obviously I recommend it for what that’s worth, lol. Good luck shopping for one of these it can be a bear to make sense of the sizing.

Best field jacket I’ve been able to find for the price
I have been trying to find a quality field jacket for a while. Bought a surplus one that had been through a lot and wasn’t in the best of shape. Ordered a new one from Rothco, it felt very cheaply made and didn’t come with a liner. I actually have T-shirts that were made better than that thing was. Sent it back and took a chance on this one from Brandit.So far, I am very impressed. Seems to be very durable, includes a liner, and appears to be able to withstand some wet conditions and precipitation. The zipper is backwards, but I have another jacket by the same manufacturer so I sort of expected that and if you have problems making your other hand work a zipper, you need to sort your life out.Would buy it again and recommend this product to anyone on the fence.

Like others have mentioned, the zipper is backwards. You would think with many reviewers mentioning this, the manufacturer would correct it, but no.I had a real M65 issued to me in 1968, and this isn’t quite as rugged, but it’s close.But that zipper, though…

M-65 field jacket, beaware zipper issue
I returned it because the zipper was set up for a left-handed person it was so weird. Other than that the fit was good the inside quilted liner was good it’s just I couldn’t live with the zipper set up that way I always zip with the right hand left hand was like I was walking on the moon with flip flops on so I sent it back
