Ideal HTPC keybord
I ditched cable TV 3 years ago and set up a HTPC next to my couch. This transferred many of the functions of my remote controls to that of a mouse and keyboard. The big problem was finding the right keyboard to use while lounging and being able to watch media and surf at the same time. I used a USB mini keyboard for a while, but after upgrading to Win7 I had to get serious about finding a wireless interface for the system. After a lot of searching, I stumbled on the Periboard 706PLUS. This looked like a great solution and I was not disappointed.This keyboard is easy to handle when I am reclining or have a cat sitting on my lap. The keys are large and easy to read. This is important because I am often trying to type with one hand.I use a mouse on the side table so the track ball isn’t important to me, but it works nicely it you prefer that. The RF link is flawless even from across the room. The keyboard is light yet stiff and is a good value. The USB transceiver is very small and can be stored inside the battery compartment when not in use. The unit is powered by 2 “AAA” cells.Altogether the product is an excellent reflection of German design principles – basic lines, practical with excellent performance yet, unlike traditional products, it is very affordable. Perixx products may be a little hard to find, but I am happy I looked long enough to find what I wanted and I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Works without any problems on Linux Mint 21
I actually got this to use on my windows PC and due to the explicit OS listing I didn’t expect it to work on my Linux Mint 21. Tried it for a test and found it seems to work completely. trackball is smooth, keys feel full sized. It is pretty compact as a keyboard, but typing is very comfortable when typing with clean keys. I really like the solid but not harsh bottom of the key press. Easy to type quickly with no doubling or lost characters. Windows key pops up the Mint Menu just like on windows. Audio volume function keys work normally. I would definitely buy it again.

An excellent accessory
This keyboard is very well built. Solid with very responsive action on the keys.Keyboard is well laid out and easy to use.The wireless connects easily on demand and will go to sleep and reconnect when needed. This makes for a good battery life. I have had it installed for a month and am still on the battery set that came with the unit.When the unit is asleep it may sometimes take a moment to reconnect, and that takes some getting used to.The trackball is responsive, but the placement of the buttons is a bit awkward. I wouldn’t want to use it for precision work like games or drawing, but it’s fine for browsing.Shipping and packaging were great.

Good keyboard, but trackball sucks
5 stars because the keys are standard size and you can actually type whole sentences without mistakes. However, I don’t recommend this.This trackball sends you back in time. Having to move the trackball to move the pointer and then having to click either the left or right button… it makes you angry because you can do all of that in just one motion on any modern laptop trackpad, saving time. But with this, you get sent back to 1997. Another downside is that the trackball is not “tacky” or whatever the word would be. For example, if you’ve ever tried the red trackball in a Lenovo laptop, the pointer doesn’t move too fast and you’re more likely to put the pointer on exactly where you want to click on the screen. However, with this trackball, you will ALWAYS miss the target and have to slide it around back and forth until you get the pointer right where you want it. Last, a red laser light emanates from below the trackball and if you have sensitivities to certain light spectrums (blue light, red light, etc) your finger will hurt when you use the trackball.Overall, this keyboard didn’t work out for me.

Keyboard works fine, trackball is tricky to use
No complaints about the keyboard, works fine. I have it mounted to an LCD on an arm where it’s used as a server monitor on a KVM. The problem with this unit is the trackball (about 5/8″ diameter, small) is VERY light with no resistance, and it’s hard to use it accurately. With the positioning of it, it is obviously designed for one-handed operation, except it is nearly impossible to lift your thumb from the trackball (say to press a button) without the cursor moving. If the ball was weighted at all it would help considerably. If this item got anything more than very occasional use, I would have to replace it with the trackpad version that I am sure would be MUCH more usable. I ended up adding a regular mouse at this point as the trackball is virtually unusable.

Should’ve trusted the other reviews
I purchased this for its size because I have a small space, and I do like the keys, but the pro list stops there. I have had this for two days and already the Z is getting stuck, the roller ball is delayed, and the key marked “Ctrl” doesn’t actually act as a typical Control key — you have to use the Windows-logo key for that, so there’s a weird learning curve.If I hadn’t thrown out the box, I would’ve returned this.

Diese Tastatur ist kompakt, mit USB-Kabel und Trackball genau das, was ein Servicemonteur in der Praxis für den Notfall braucht. Immer zur Hand und findet auch im Werkzeugkoffer noch Platz und das wichtigste: Es benötigt, nicht so wie viele andere Kompakttastaturen, keine Batterie – ist also immer verfügbar! der Trackball ist zwar sehr sensibel; bei Bedarf muß man halt die Mauseinstellungen in der Systemsteuerung anpassen.Die Tasten sind trotz der “Kleinheit” noch gut zu bedienen.Tip von mir: Achtet auf das Keyboardlayout – ich habe versehentlich US erwischt… selbst schuld…

La tastiera è ben costruita e funziona ottimamente. Per un uso professionale può far piacere sapere che il trackball è posizionato nell’angolo in alto a destra e si tratta di una sfera abbastanza piccola (inferiore alle dimensioni di una pallina dei vecchi mouse), con una velocità di rotazione elevata (cioè fa poco attrito). Questo consente spostamenti velocissimi del cursore.

トラックボール付きのものを探してたところ、こちらが安価で11inchタブレット用のバックにも入るサイズでしたのでこちら購入しました。初英字キーボードでキーの配置が若干違うことへの慣れ、日本語入力切り替えの設定変更など必要そうです。押し心地はなんというか90年代のパソコンに付属してたものに近いです。トラックボールは若干反応悪いです、ゆっくり転がすと動かないです。たまにしか使わないので問題ないですが、メインで使おうという方にはトラックボールの反応の悪さがネックな感じします。

I have two of these now. It’s perfect size to carry around and to keep the mouse close by. Spilled coffee (black) on one but it kept working after letting it dry out for a few hours.
