    Unhinged, Obsessed, Over-The-Top Hockey Romance
I loved this story! What a strong introduction to the Pucking Wrong Series! It has perfect world-building, introduces intriguing side characters, and sets the stage for over-the-top, morally dark grey MMCs.Through a twist of fate, our MMC, with a golden boy exterior, who is actually a deviant menace, begins a texting relationship with our FMC. And once he sets his sights on her, there is quite literally nothing that will stop him, nothing he won’t do to make her his. Obviously, this is fiction; It is swoony, spicy, unhinged, and precisely the type of unrealistic story that makes you binge-read.Our MMC is successful, intelligent, charming, kind of evil, and completely devoted. He balances having no moral code whatsoever with having deep, life-changing emotions for the FMC. His only goal in life is to turn her life around, by any means necessary, without her knowledge, and breaking like 53 laws in the process. Our FMC has a troubled backstory and is struggling through life, under-resourced, unprotected, and overworked. So when one thing after another begins to fall apart in her life, it seems like it might just be her bad luck. What a coincidence our MMC is there to pick up the pieces at just the right time.If you are looking for a wild, all gas, no brakes, morally dark grey, sports romance where he falls first and hard, this is the book for you. It inspired me to purchase the entire series, and I am so glad I did!

    A disturbing anti-hero and yet…
Before I go into a review, this book has a trigger warning which is absolutely necessary. I knew what I was getting into before I started reading it nevertheless I still had a rather visceral reaction to it which I wasn’t expecting. BUT if you can keep an open mind going into it, you will find that the story is really well-plotted, the characters are well written and are able to elicit our empathy, and the author really knows her craft. Please keep in mind that the male MC, Lincoln, has some MAJOR red flags. The author took some major risks in writing this character and I applaud her courage in creating a complex, layered and very conflicted character who makes Christian Gray’s issues seem almost tame in comparison. However, physical beauty, money, and fame cannot disguise or excuse his isolating behavior and I hope no reader thinks this is ok! Monroe is a tragic character, but a young woman who has gone through hell and survived. She has a great deal of mental and moral strength who is somehow able to tame Lincoln’s worst tendencies. Will this always be the case? Only time will tell but I was rooting for her to succeed. That said, I liked the book enough to give it four stars. And I will read the next book in the series about Ari.The following does contain ***SPOILER ALERTS*** so please proceed at your own risk.Monroe, a young woman whose terrible childhood is certainly all too common in the US is the stuff of nightmares. With a junkie mother who is a hooker to support her habit, Monroe is shunted from home to home in the foster care system. Through a fateful mistake, Lincoln and Monroe’s paths cross and Lincoln decides that no one will do for him but Monroe. He is incredibly rich, he is a very major hockey superstar, yet his own childhood was terrible. If there is a weak point in the book, it is this. The billionaire father is a truly terrible person yet his motives are not explained and I kept hoping an explanation would be forthcoming. As a result the conclusion of the book seemed as if it was rushed and as a result it didn’t mesh well with the rest of the book.Back to the characters: Lincoln is the golden boy of the NHL. He is unbelievably handsome, charming, well liked by teammates, and has his pick of women who literally throw themselves at him. Yet underneath the charming and gorgeous exterior, there is a very dark and violent person. Let’s face it, Lincoln is a narcissist who can justify anything. When his path crosses Monroe’s — a beautiful, kind, and very sad young woman, he decides she has to belong to him. He sees himself as a sort of savior who needs to give her everything yet at the price of her own freedom and moral agency. Monroe ignores the red flags but then again, he saves her from the downward spiral of poverty and a terrible life. He doesn’t just love her but he is obsessed with her. She finally understands his obsessive, behavior and yet… she decides that she, too, needs him, no matter the cost. Will she be able to control his darkness? She sees herself as his savior, too, but as I turned the last page, I could see that he had succeeded in everything he set out to do.I did ask myself when this book ended if Lincoln had been a physically repugnant person who did all these things for Monroe, would the reader have accepted his savior actions so readily? Lincoln is a broken fallen angel who is so beautiful that people almost worship him. Does this make his actions acceptable? Only the reader can decide.

    Unhinged, Obsessed, and Perfectly OTT
Rating 3.5Let me start by saying Lincoln is a walking red flag—and unhinged to the fullest extent. Yet, for all his flaws, he embodies the quintessential book boyfriend: devastatingly handsome, fiercely loyal, and irresistibly magnetic. His obsession with Monroe, however, took “OTT” to a whole new level. I mean, tattooing a certain body part with her name? I’ve never read about a man doing that, and honestly, I was all for it!Monroe, on the other hand, was a hardworking woman striving to build a better life for herself. Sweet and grounded, she deserved more balance in her story. I wished she had a close friend to lean on or even just someone to help her navigate her relationship with Lincoln, which consumed her entire world. My only gripe with Lincoln was his inability to let Monroe have her own identity. His obsession was thrilling to read but bordered on suffocating at times. I loved how unhinged he was—don’t get me wrong—but a touch more balance would have been nice. One standout for me was Lincoln’s bromance with Ari. It added depth and charm to his character. A novella featuring Lincoln and Monroe down the road would be amazing—I’d love to see how their story unfolds beyond this book. This is my second read from this author, and while I thoroughly enjoyed Lincoln, Parker Davis still reigns supreme as my favorite unhinged MMC. C.R. has officially become my go-to author for OTT alpha males, and I can’t wait to dive into more of her work!

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Spice 🌶🌶🌶”Monroe, I see you. I see all of you. And I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here for you, every step of the way, no matter what. Because I know that you’re worth it. You’re worth everything. Eventually, you’ll trust me. I’ve been lonely all these years, too. Waiting for you.”‘Golden Boy’ Lincoln & MonroeThis was my first book by C.R. Jane, and I definitely plan to read more of her work. It’s a hockey romance with a hero who’s obsessed and a bit of a stalker—something I couldn’t put down!I loved that this book isn’t your typical sweet sports romance. Linc is completely taken with Monroe from the moment he sees her picture, and his obsession grows as the story progresses. I absolutely loved Lincoln for his intense and possessive love.Monroe, who had a tough childhood, takes charge of her life and is working hard, which sets the stage for her unexpected romance with Lincoln that starts with a mistaken text message. The story develops well, with the big moment between Monroe and Lincoln happening just at the right time.I liked the ‘wrong number’ mix-up at the start, though I wish that part lasted a bit longer to build more suspense. I loved all the spice and all the finger licked goodness.I can’t wait for Ari book, loving the bromance happening in this book.Overall, “The Pucking Wrong Number” was more than I expected, with a great mix of intense characters and an interesting plot.Tropes:Age GapAthlete – HockeyJealous/Possessive MMCManipulationMINERich boy / Poor GirlStalking – Tracking/SpyingVirgin FMCDub-conHe Falls FirstTouch her / go near her & DiePraise KinkDual POV

I don’t understand some of the comments I’ve seen for this book. It’s stated almost on the first page that this is a dark romance. And deliciously dark it is.Stalking, manipulating, kidnapping… you want it? You get it.I love how absolutely wrong those two are for each other and how right they make it.The MMC is absolutely sick in the head and I adored it. And what he does to FMC to keep her is just perfect for a dark romance book.BUT! Please check Trigger Warnings before reading this. Please don’t touch it if dark romance is not for you.

This is the kind of book that pulls you into its chaos and refuses to let go. Monroe and Lincoln’s story is dark, obsessive, and completely unhinged—but that’s exactly what makes it so addictive.Monroe, a girl who has always felt alone, finds herself tangled in the dangerous web of Lincoln Daniels, a man who doesn’t just want her—he needs her. His love isn’t soft or sweet, it’s possessive, consuming, and laced with madness.”If you got the chance to experience the kind of love that breaks you and heals you all at once… The answer should always be yes”.The pacing kept me hooked, and the chemistry between the characters was undeniable. That said, some moments felt too intense without enough build-up, and I wish the book had included content warnings for certain scenes. And when the challenge that requires both our main characters to overcome near the end hit, the build-up was so intense but then it was resolved quickly and easily. I have no problem with quick resolved challenge but why make the build-up so suspenseful. So that was kinda disappointing. Also, i have no problem with the writing style most of the time but some parts do felt off. However, the obsessive storyline, the characters’ development and the way this book perfectly describes grief process do make up for it.If you enjoy dark romance with an obsessive, possessive MMC and a heroine who finds herself falling for the madness, this book delivers.
