Bad sound quality!
Very bad sound quality! When it’s off it constantly hums and you hear static. Also I wish I could return it but I bought it before I started my project. I wouldn’t buy this or recommend it to anyone.

Not working for home theater
Got this for home theater use, as that’s largely what it’s advertised for. Not really working that well. The hum is noticeable when nothing is on. Maybe for karaoke or something it would be fine, but not for home theater. Bummer.

Flexible and capable
Multi-channel amps have very specific uses so any potential buyer should understand what this is before buying it. It is not well suited as a home theater receiver. Nor is it compatible with any source that uses strictly digital signal (optical/coaxial/HDMI). This is, first and foremost, a way to power audio/music throughout a house or building. It can drive up to four sets of speakers, and combines the tried and true hard-wired / analog technology of CD/DVD players with more modern digital formats (Bluetooth sources + USB drive and SD cards filled with digital files). I don’t personally expect to make use of this feature, but it can also serve as a karaoke machine or mic amp, making for a very flexible and capable “whole home” audio station.As an example, when I moved into my house, I wired multiple sets of speakers on different floors, and in different rooms. I have 4 sets in all. This way I can play music from one conveniently located source and then hear it playing wherever I go. Great for parties, housework, etc. Until now I’ve been using a mediocre amp better suited to a church or conference hall. It did not have Bluetooth or FM, or individual volume controls. This amp is a nice upgrade in both sound and functionality, and provided that it holds up, I expect to be using it for a very long time.I especially appreciate having the volume controls for each source as well as an overall volume knob. Subjective loudness will vary based on speaker size & impedance, as well room shape/size/material, so being able to dial in a base volume, and then adjust individual volumes for each room is very helpful. Because it would be impractical to return to that central location every time I want to change volume, I also have impedance matching volume knobs wired in-between this amp and the speakers in each location to change volume on the fly. Takes a little tweaking to get everything set up just right, and probably introduces more circuitry into the signal chain than is ideal, but the practical functionality is great.The USB and SD card functions are somewhat rudimentary, best used to play a long mix for parties or other functions.I only have one criticism. The remote does not truly power off the unit. While the maker claims this is typical of units that go into standby mode, in most other cases, going into standby cuts all output signal. I can still hear a hum, albeit slight, when this unit is in standby.

This is a cool retro looking stereo. Sounds good. Not a lot of bass though. That’s the only bad thing. But for the money it’s really cool.

I cannot seem to get this to sound decent, FM radio might as well not be there
First off, don’t buy this if you think you’re going to listen to the radio. It doesn’t work basically at all in a rural area. Another reviewer says that it doesn’t even work correctly in a major city. In a rural area, I get two stations, and they sound like I’m listening to them on a battery powered radio from the 70’s in a basement, with the batteries almost dead and also I’m deaf. In other words, don’t bother. The Onkyo receiver sitting right here gets plenty of stations and some of them are even crystal clear. My cars all get better reception in a metal pole barn than this thing does anywhere.I wanted to try a thumb drive to play some music, but I ran into a problem. It’s 2009! This won’t work with anything larger than 32gb thumb drives. I haven’t bought a thumb drive that small in, and I mean this quite literally, over a decade. I checked my amazon history, and I bought a 128gb thumb drive in 2014. My decade old thumb drive is too new for this brand new amp. Joy. It can use an SD card…up to 32gb. I did have one of those from a camera from before cell phones had decent cameras. Remember when you used a digital camera if you didn’t want grainy video or fairly bad pictures? Yeah, that has been a minute. Anyway, I dug that out and it played fine…with a buzzing sound of course.I can live without FM radio, I guess. The next thing drives me completely insane though. It buzzes. I thought I had something wrong with my cables, so I switched everything out. I fiddled with everything for a good hour. It still buzzed. I even tried different speakers. Buzz. I thought about trying banana plugs, until I realized that this doesn’t accept them. Buzz buzz buzz. I went to check the other reviews, and another reviewer has the exact same problem. That’s how mine sounds, except louder. Well, I’m listening directly to mine, so that reviewer’s unit probably sounds the same in person. In other words, it’s not an isolated problem with mine.It can really pound the speakers at least. It definitely has some power. If only it didn’t buzz.
