I think I got a lemon
I wanted a unit that wasn’t ginormous like my old stereo and this is perfect in that way. An inch and a half shallower (front to back), half as tall and 2 inches narrower side to side. That was what clinched the deal for me to start with. Fit and finish look good and I’m pleased right out of the box.Yes, this beast is a bit quirky and definitely old school, but then so am I. As has been said, the remote controls volume, changes channels and has a mute. The fan runs non-stop unless you turn the unit completely off. The remote only shuts down the front end.I have surround speakers in the living room and some speakers on the porch. Speakers A plus surround speakers handle the living room and Speakers B heads to the porch. This was unexpected. I’m pleased with that.My problem with this unit is supposedly it has an FM tuner. I’ve tried three different FM antennas and it acts like the antenna socket isn’t connected. I get the same static with an antenna plugged in and unplugged. No difference. If the antenna socket is indeed connected, the tuner sensitivity is somewhere between nothing and ‘Huh?’I’m going to send it back and see if this is a factory defect and a new unit works correctly.

An odd unit, but good for the price.
This currently goes for $129, and at this price it is a decent unit, but has some quirks. For example, it is capable of driving a 5.1 setup (more if you count adding a second set of main left and right speakers which can be played at the same time), but you can’t feed it a 5.1 surround signal. It can only take standard left and right stereo. Any surround it does will be virtual. It also has an EQ circuit so you can add in an external EQ. Not very common anymore! You could also put something else in that loop, like a tube buffer. The S. Bass switch certainly adds more bass, but it cuts out everything else. I’m not sure when you would actually use that. The remote has volume up and down, but that only applies to the digital section of the amp, which still passes the signal to the analogue volume control. It has treble, mid, and bass controls and is ready to handle two mics for karaoke. The power button on the remote also only turns off the digital section, so the amp is still on even when it looks off. You can tell because the cooling fan stays on. Yes, it has one! Is it class A/B? The fan also varies depending on load. Playing music usually causes it to spin faster. It’s not overly noticeable. There is also a Loudness button. What a mix of odd things in one affordable package! To make things more odd, they put in a toroidal transformer rather than a standard one. These are typically seen in more expensive amps. Some large capacitors can be seen as well without opening it up. The build quality is pretty decent. The fit and finish is nice, though the cover could be a bit thicker. The knobs and buttons feel okay. The binding posts are the cheaper plastic ones. Remember, this is $129.I really did my testing in two channel, especially since the surround isn’t exactly real. You know what? This thing sounds good and was more than enough to drive low sensitivity speakers very loudly. I did hook up two sets at once (A+B) and it drove them loud and fine. Bass had the weight I would expect, highs were also where I would expect with the speakers I put on this. It’s great, nothing is off ESPECIALLY at this price. Here’s my recommendation: if you are looking for super cheap amps and are considering really small amps from Fosi Audio and Aiyima, give this a look too. Some of the features are weird and you might not use, but it has a dedicated sub out, can switch between two sets of main speakers (or play them at once), has Bluetooth, and multiple analogue inputs. If you are going to upgrade later and want to build a real system, this will probably last you longer simply because it has more inputs. The flexibility is really handy.

Does work, decent volume, nice idea but many issues, poor controls, radio reception, overpriced
This unit does work and it can get fairly loud, like the speaker connection setup, but audio quality not great. Multiple control knobs have no indicator on them as to where they are set to. The USB/SD card function is a nice idea and does work decently but does not tell you track number or anything. The tuning setup you have to run a scan once first it it fails to find stations and do again and finds more they all end up in an unordered jumbled mess, no way to manually control tuning. The pickup with the included antenna or a wire that worked nice with another unit with this still can’t avoid lot of static noise. Every time you shut off the unit it defaults to aux input instead of what you used last. Wish the screen would tell you track name, etc if it had that data, seems for this price this device is quite simplistic. There is also a fan in this unit while variable speed it can get to be noticeable. Was torn between 2-3 stars but the price and all the issues I’m going with two, though i really like the idea of this it just seems this could still use some work.

Es genial
Es un poco rústico pero ase golpear mis bocinas de 8 y 10 pulgadas me hubiera gustado que tuviera más lucecitas

Arcaic and not worth it
I’ve had another receiver for over 15 years. And I’ve had no problems with this other receiver. So with this new receiver, I thought I would try this and I would write a review, and I’m telling you that 1 of the ports didn’t work. And the sound is just was awful. The base would not sound much of base at all in the subwoofer I own, which sounds a whole lot better in my old system. This system looks completely archaic. It does do Bluetooth, it does have a radio AM FM function. Yes, it has microphone(s) jacks. It can do karaoke on in, you know, I guess that’s that’s fun. But other than that I would not suggest this.
