9X better than my other major brand amplifier
I have two 5.1 surround sound systems in my home. For the first one, I went with a popular, major-brand amplifier. The manual is terrible and the remote is terrible. Both are too complex and I still don’t have it setup the way I prefer. For my second 5.1 system, I chose this amplifier. HUGE DIFFERENCE. The Yamaha manual is simple and clear, the remote is simple and clear, and everything works. It turns on and off with my TV and I control sound level with my TV remote. Everything about this is better than my previous choice. I love products that work as they should, and this one does.

Low Price for Value
This is the third Yamaha unit I have owned. the previous two had the HDMI Input ports quit working. The first after 10 yrs. The second after 6 weeks. The third is a warranty, replacement. Still, for the Money, BEST UNIT I’VE FOUND.

Good modestly priced reciever
Good for the price, but it lacks some sound modes I was used to from my last and more expensive receiver. The microphone setup mode worked really well and balanced the speakers perfectly. This is a nice modestly priced reciever, I would recommend it as long as your wanting above basic but not all the bells and whistles.

Happy with my RX-V385
I bought this after looking at many other options both online and at Best Buy. I owned a Yamaha CR820 for many, many years and never had any trouble with it other than a broken tuner string, so I decided to stick with the brand and give this one a try. I have been using it for about six months and am very happy with it. The on screen menu is very handy (never had that before) and the setup was very straight forward. I did not use the auto setup feature. I connected it to Polk Audio T15s for the surrounds, T30 center and a PSW108 sub. Since this was a refurbished unit and Polk stuff goes on sale at Best Buy all the time, I don’t have a particularly expensive system, but it sounds great to me.

Yamaha doesn’t dissappoint!
Awesome as usual. Love this unit. Wish I could figure out how to use the Bluetooth to connect my phone or read speakers. Other then that it sounds amazing.

This purchase was a reminder why not to buy refurbished.
The unit worked excellent if it just worked. Then I got the dreaded protection mode. The first reset worked fine after that I declared it dead.I get the feeling that there were failing parts then was returned for the next victim. My speakers were all within specifications. I did nothing out of the ordinary. I promise you that it is not worth the hassle for refurbs. Otherwise I loved it and was sad to see it break down.

Loving this
Inherited some built-into-my-new-home speakers and researched receivers extensively to have something that would connect the one optical audio output from our new TV to the ancient hard wired speaker system (also added a subwoofer). This did the trick. Saw many lower cost options but they wouldn’t handle digital audio. The Bluetooth connectivity is great also to stream music from the phone. Solid value.

Great for the money receiver
I liked the receiver, it was an upgrade to a previous insignia receiver I had. If you have 5.1 sound then this is a perfect little receiver for the price. If you want Dolby atmos that will cost more and expect it to be 7.1 surround sound. It can get hot if you push the speakers.
