Sus Mystery NAND Inside. Working Well So Far, But Wouldn’t Use for Critical Data
I got this for an old PC I am rehabbing, and which won’t be needing a ton of storage space. I think this drive is a dang good value proposition, assuming one is aware of the risks. Read on for more detail on that. Before hooking it up, I opened it up out of curiosity. Right off the bat, the NAND storage chips on this drive stood out due to having somewhat poorly screen printed labels that are just white bars. Since they aren’t made by a reputable manufacturer (In fact, we have no way to know where they came from), I would not use this drive to store anything that would trouble me to lose. Fortunately for my project, that isn’t an issue, but worth keeping in mind. The PCB design is based on a Realtek manufacturer demo board that is serviceable though definitely not state of the art. It even has a RayMX RM1135T onboard, which is a reproduction of a common older Realtek controller. Interestingly, one of the key differences from older versions of this board design is the addition of P25Q40SH-SSH-IT PUYA NOR Flash controller, which is supposed to help optimize delete / write block management. I am not an expert on this stuff by any means, but I would guess that this modification is what helps to yield the solid performance levels noted by other reviewers. You have to be careful with mystery chips from a reliability standpoint, and normally, that would knock a few stars off the review. At the end of the day though, we have to look at this drive based on the market position it occupies, which is a super, super cheap ($11 currently) SSD. Honestly, it would be MORE shocking if the NAND was name brand and the board wasn’t based on some widely available platform. If anything, I have to give Yottamaster some credit for the additions they apparently made to improve the design somewhat. Good stuff for projects and old computers that won’t be storing your family photos and adoption documents.

I get write and read speeds close to 500 MB/s
The SSD comes in its own housing and includes a screwdriver and two mounting screws. I installed it in my laptop. My system identifies the SSD as a 128 GB Disk – Yottamaster [VE2R9304]. I benchmarked the disk on 30 Jan 2025 08:42:12 PM EST with a sample size of 10 MIB, and these are the results:Average Read Rate: 450.4 MB/s (100 samples)Average Write Rate: 437.4 MB/s (100 samples)Average Access Time: 0.15 msec (1000 samples)I also verified the actual storage capacity using the program Fight Flash Fraud (Qt). While the software was initially intended for flash drives, it works with all kinds of drives. To save time, I performed the fast data-destructive storage test since the drive was empty. The non-destructive test, which fills the drive with 1 GB files and reads them back to verify integrity, can take hours. My test confirmed the SSD is genuine, with no discrepancy between available and actual storage space.

Good for old computers
I wanted this for an old computer I am trying to resurrect which would not need a ton of storage space. For the most part it gets the job done. Recognised by the computer and I was able to install windows with no issues. The speeds are close enough to say that the advertised speed is correct. It is working just fine but without knowing the manufacturer of NAND chips on this drive I’d be a little careful with storing important stuff or using this as a backup drive. Given the price point I don’t think the NAND chips will be from a known manufacturer. For applications where data loss is not an issue I think this is a good value for the price especially when trying to improve old computers.

Great drive!
Great SSD for the price! Installed it in an old laptop, and the performance improvement was noticeable. Boot times are faster, and file transfers are much smoother. It’s a reliable and affordable upgrade for anyone looking to speed up their system.

Expensive for the amount of storage, but works fine.
I’m not sure if many people are buying 128 GB SSDs anymore, but if you are this one works fine. I tested it out by installing different Linux distributions for fun. The Yottamaster S25PRO 128GB SATA SSD didn’t have any problems with the installations or subsequent use of the installed Linux distributions. The speed and response of this 128 GB SATA 2.5″ SSD was adequate for my purposes. But for the price you can buy better deals for a 128 GB SSD.

Excellent for…
… older systems with a NVme slot, as this is plenty big enough for loading an operating system. However, considering the price and advantages of NVme drives, if your system will accept one, I would highly favor them over this type drive. That being said, this is a very inexpensive solution, and can also offer an inexpensive solution for an external drive with an enclosure, as factory external drives of this type are often more expensive and sealed, so that if the drive goes bad, the unit becomes useless. For what it is, what it does, and what it costs: Five StarsI am the Totally Unbiased Reviewer Dude (T.U.R.D.) and that is how I see it.

Works as expected
At this point there isn’t much surprise left from SATA SSDs. This one is no exception. It installed just fine and was picked up by my PC. It performed on par with any other SATA drive I tested. It’s a good option if you still use SSDs in any of your builds.
